Title: there's 30 minutes I'd like back
Post by: pembquist on July 14, 2012, 02:08:08 PM
Downloaded registered free trial etc. WW2 online. Pfffft. The thing about AH2 I like is you can just get flying.  I'm not a big video game fan but the few I've played always seem overly complicated with crap that has nothing to do with the pleasurable part of playing.  Bottom line is I don't want to go through basic training, I don't want to increase my rank in some fantasy world just so I can fly a plane.  I don't even want to know HOW to increase my rank in some fantasy world just so I can fly a plane.  Besides which it crashes.  I guess I'm just wasting more time by writing this but I just gotta say AH2, whatever its shortcomings, is so much better. I tried that WOT out of curiosity and  while not quite as awful as  ww2 online was for me, it made me realize that what I like about ah2 is that it is a persistent world with large boundaries and total freedom, the wot world that I played was like waiting in a locker room to go out into a stadium and while the graphics are nice its too controlled and "drop another quarter sammy" video gamey.  By contrast in AH2 you can start flying after only 9 clicks from turning your computer on.

The thing I don't understand is why AH2 doesn't have lots more players.

WW2O is based on ground combat, not air combat.  It's ground combat with some air bits mixed in; Like how Aces High is air combat with ground bits mixed in.  It's not an overly bad game, to be honest, but I prefer Aces High over it overall.  As for ranks in WW2O, unless you P2P, you can't get very high and/or use certain units if I remember correctly.  I only did the 2 week trial thing, had some fun, but I don't see myself paying for an account as of yet. :aok
