Inertia starter huh? That means if you stall the engine in combat the crew has to exit the tank to re-start the motor. Nasty.  :huh

What I always found fascinating was that the wheels are turned by electric motors....engine is apparently nothing but a generator

The Tiger had a conventional transmission.

Only in Porsche's Tiger. Porsche and Henschel's proposals for Tiger were presented to Hitler in his birthday in 1942. Porsche prototype was more unreliable and lost to Henschel's.
