Title: New skin viewer
Post by: Pyro on July 23, 2012, 05:07:15 PM
There is a new skin viewer available.  This version supports the new environment mapping function.  The slider for adjusting the environment map is found under specular in the materials menu.  The net environment map is the material specular alpha times the bump map alpha channel, i.e. the specular alpha mask.  It's also cleans up the shape filter list.

I'm not able to find the Fi 156 in the shape list.  I still see it in an older version of the skin viewer I have installed, so I'm guessing it was accidentally removed when the list was culled for this version?

Edit the "ahskfilt.txt" file and remove the "FI156" from that file and it will reappear.  Ta-da :)

I'm not sure if this a bug or something with my setup, but I am having trouble getting the new environment effects to work in the skin viewer. First the effect in the viewer does not look right. What I am seeing is shown in the screenshot below. The reflection is of green terrain both below and above the aircraft, where it should be blue above. Also the side reflections seem to be upside down. Also the environment slider has no effect on the amount of the effect on view, it is fixed at maximum. Changes using the materials effects sliders do not get saved to the material or bumpmat.txt files either.

Does anyone else have this problem with the skin viewer sometimes? When it starts up all I get is a bar and then a windows 'stopped working' error. Have deleted the program and reinstalled twice.
