I was wondering if this would be a good joystick for my son to use? If anyone uses it with a 64bit system and it works with the game. Thank you in advance for any help.

Never used one myself, but there's plenty of good reviews both on this forum and others. Being USB, it should work directly when plugged in without any extra programs or drivers, also on a 64 bit system. The game (AH, I assume) accepts any stick that Windows recognizes, even multiple sticks.
There's good alternatives, too, in the price range. The Thrustmaster T.16000m is ultimately accurate because of the HALL technology it uses instead of potentiometres.
One hint: Teach your son to use his joystick like a real pilot does. Cranking the stick beyond limits doesn't improve combat maneuvers, vice versa. It'll only break the stick. I've read the FAF pilot pocket manual from early fifties when they still used propelled warbirds, the movements of the stick being printed in full size. The patterns of stick trajectories would each fit on the label of a matchbox! Also, people who have seen wartime aces try AH have told they held the stick very gently, doing only small movements.

I had an av8r a while ago. better than TM cougar which is excrement. But still not very tough. and i am gentle on them

Thank you this is all great. He is 16 now and has been flying in games since he was 7 so hes pretty good at not Yanking and banking the stick. He is using an x-45 that is dieing button by button it was my original hotas. Going to watch for these on ebay. TY
