why have you got 218 on your back RT?
Is it your door number for when they take you home?
-
thats ellie our excellent cox. the number is because she steered us to 218th/420 crews the previous year - that was a great paddle for a novice/old blokes boat with a 15-yr old cox :aok
the bowman looks like hes squeezing one out :D

please re-read the topic title, it does not say "Find an excuse to bring up the same pointless argument you are already involved in in another topic."
What Sports Have You Competed In?

What Sports Have You Competed In?
This is no argument. Just trying to educate some very misinformed people...
Are we talking about organized sport leagues or just horsing around in the back yard?

Sport as defined by oxford
"An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."
Those all qualify under that definition.
-
Who's this oxford fellow and why is he such an authority on what constitutes a sport?
Organized or just goofing around in the back yard?

Organized or just goofing around in the back yard?
I assumed organized. I have played other sports in pick up games or "goofing."

Two things... First, the op doesn't specify organized events or goofing around and second, the op has repeatedly demonstrated his lack of understanding of just what constitutes a sporting event.
Too many variables.
*actually on second reading... He was pretty concise, wasn't he... hehe...
I played football in high school and little league baseball. These days I like to throw a football around the yard, help the kids practice soccer and we enjoy chasing a frisbee on occasion...

Football, boxing, basketball, baseball, softball, and I was a competitive pistol shooter.
Just thinking about it makes me feel old. But hey, I still shoot 100% in my pistol and rifle qualifications. The groups have gotten like my interior plumbing has tho.
Looser. :(

interesting - is that like lumberjack stuff? :headscratch:
Yeah more specifically I'm talking about the Southern Collegiate Forestry Conclave, which involves about 15 schools of forestry. There are physical events which include the more stereotypical lumberjack activities (knife/axe throw, log burling, log rolling, paired cross-cut, bow saw, pole climbing, and pole felling). There are technical events as well, which are more oriented to class room fields of study and are closed from public viewing (timber cruising, DBH estimation, pole classification, compass and pacing, tree ID, wildlife ID, photogrammetry, and wood ID). Technical events are worth 1.5 times as many points as the physical events, so the emphasis is on knowing your field of study rather than just pure competition.
