Defiant really has no place in this game as no one would fly it. Just because a plane flew during the war doesn't always mean it will be a good addition to the game.

Defiant and Do-17 would be complete hangar queens. So would the 111, but it'll see plenty of use in the SEA, as would the Beaufighter, which makes it an excellent addition.
Add the Vickers Wellington and we can have one heck of a BoB event.
-
B-25J!!!!! And all the early war bombers aswell! :x
-
I bet folks will fly the HE-111 in the game even if they get shot down a lot. After flying the B-25 when it first came to the game I didn't think it would see much use but I was wrong. I see it all the time in bomber formation in LW. I think that will be true of the HE-111 depending on what version we get and defensive gun package is on it.
-
I'm curious what data you guys use to predict a hangar queen before you have flown it.
I've flown all of these planes (and more) in other sims for years and none are the hangar queens some of you are predicting.

Performance and capability.
Players flock to the Spitfire as it is famous and easy to use, right? How many of those Spitfires are the Mk Ia? Why do you think that is true?
Why do you think the P-51D gets used so much more than the P-40N?
-
That explains why we don't have the japanese plane that shot down more enemy than any other in game.

Ki-43.

+1 for the Ki-43
-
Ki-43 I'd use on occasion because it would be fun. Defiant would not be fun and would thus not get used by me.
-
+1 to all these planes. Toss in the TBD Devastator as well. :D I'd fly them all in the MA, even if it meant certain death. :aok

Same :bolt:

TBD Devastator really would only be added for 1 theater involving in 2 campaigns - it was phased out in 1942, unless Aces high starts running out of planes to add, there is no way this thing is getting added any time soon same with Bristol Paul Defiant.
Paul Defiant = No forward guns, No bombs - it simply carried a rear turret with 4x 303s. Sure you might fly it once with a squadmate, but when is the next time you are ever going to see one?
Plenty of EW-LW that made more of an impact during the war, lets not simply throw planes on the list that just because they served doesn't mean it needs to be added right away.
My vote for EW plane would be Gloster Gladiator, if we so need or want something so slow and under gunned then this would be my choice.
I'd love to see how much ammo is used up just trying to shoot down an I-16.

That's why the Defiant would be a hanger queen. It would be nothing more than a target drone if flown solo and even with a gunner would still be little more than a target drone. What other sim modeled the Defiant? I know WB didn't when I played but that was back in the late '90s.

When I fly in the WW1 arena I use the F.2 with the tail gun and I get most of my kills that way 'cause most people don't remember its there.....
...I can just see a guy in a P-51 think he's sneaking up on a hurricane and gets a face full of .303

You are talking AVA with no Icons period, in the FSO, Scenarios, Snapshots, Main Arenas there is an icon that won't show Hurri but "Defiant" since its not apart of a plane set from the Hurricanes.
-
If I'm not mistaken the Defiant was designed to be similar to the Hurricane so it would be easier to get parts and repairs.
Also most captured German pilots that were shot down by a Defiant reported that they thought it was a Hurricane.

Because they didn't have icons over the plane that when you got close the icon will display "Defiant" like it does in AH. That's why no one would mistake it for a Hurricane in AH and no matter how good of as stick is in the Defaint, it will always be at such a severe disadvantage that the player would have been better off leaving it in the hanger and take up a real fighter with forward firing machine guns.
