Daughter and I went and shot 50 rounds a piece on clays yesterday morning then drove out to one of our dove field leases. Looking good! Plenty of sunflower as well and a huge number of dove.

Awesome Rog, how do they taste? I've had pheasant, grouse, duck, and goose but never dove.
We used to capture pigeons and use them in socks to train our bird dogs, once we also captured a little dove. My sister and I decided he couldn't be used for training and 12 years later 'Marshmallow' still lives with us. Our old, retired bird dog is so used to the dove he can't even be bothered to react when Marshmallow uses him as a perch.

They're quite tasty! And a blast to hunt!
Can't wait for our season to open up here, so my son and I can go out. We've only had the opportunity to hunt doves for a few years in Wisconsin, because until then they were protected.

Managed to get an invite to join a group where we have multiple fields. We will be hunting opening weekend out just west of Olney, Texas except for the very first day where we have an invite to a dove event at some big ranch up toward Denton/Denison area. And for folks that don't know a "dove event" in Texas means a whole lot of good food.
Opening weekend is fun but I really prefer the next weeks when there are a lot less people. But even on our properties one thing I like is there's not that many and it's away from the big city.

There's been quite a few the last 3 years where I hunt in Cooke county near the lake.

Anymore in Texas if you want to hunt and don't have family with land connections, better whip out the check book.
