Okay so I'm looking at hobby lobby in the model section there I see it reminded me of the b25 in a way it only had 1 turret on top but its supposedly a very fast bomber it saw action late in the war I will do more resreach when I get home
-
cool though because it did take part in a very secret mission in WW2

The Hudson/Ventura line of mediums would be nice history wise, but performance would relegate them to the hanger I'm afraid.
Lots of Air Forces flew them and they would have a place in special events, but I don't think that cartoon pilots would enjoy them much. Those that the RAF attempted to use over France got butchered. Otherwise they were mainly anti-shipping/patrol birds in the PTO/MTO and Aleutians.
I really enjoy the real history of that bird, and I have a flying helmet in my collection that at one point belonged to an RAAF Ventura navigator, but as I said, I think it would be a non factor in the arenas.

You mean the raid on Macho Grande?
+1 for the Ventura.

Wasn't George Zip killed on that mission when they went to bomb the storage depots at 1800 after they came in from the west and below radar? Or was that the raid on Daiquiri?
ack-ack

I believe it was the raid on the mime school and the accordian factory. Or were those secondary targets? :headscratch:

"Ted, when will you be coming back?"
- "I can't tell you that. Classified." :lol
"Tell them to win one, just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then Doc", he said "but I won't smell too good, that's for sure."

An entirely different raid. Altogether. :)

the thing i was talking about was that the army had came up with a remote controlled bomb they stuffed a B24 (i think) full of explosives and were going to use the bomber to bomb a V3 gun site but the bomber exploded midair killing the guys that were setting the plane up
I forgot most of it so that the best i can explain it

man I can only find specs on the b34 lexington which i'm assuming is slower right???than the pv-1 the pv-2 would be cool to add as a night fighter if we had night.....................
-
More research Eric. There is nothing remotely uber about the Ventura :)
-
did I ever say i wanted something uber??????nope I sure didn't I just think it would be cool lol

Not a lot out there on it's history. The ones on my shelf are
"The Empire Express-The story of the US Navy PV Squadron aerial Strikes against the Japanese Kurile Isles during WW2" by Charles Scrivner
"Vega Ventura-The Operational History of Lockheed's Lucky Star" by John Stanaway
"PV Ventura/Harpoon Units of WW2" by Alan Carey
"2 Group RAF" by MJF Bowyer (Covers the RAF use of the Venturas over France and the low countries)
"Desert Scorpions-A History of 459 Squadron RAAF" by Leon Kane-Macguire. (459 flew Hudsons and Venturas in the MTO)
I think they're 'cool' too, but in the land of Aces High I'm afraid the investment to model them wouldn't be matched by their use. Obviously it's not up to me, but I think there are a lot of other birds that would make sense to fill out the plane sets before the "Vent" :)

Do some reading about how Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. (July 25, 1915 – August 12, 1944) met his end, and "Operation Aphrodite". :aok
