Title: Fuel % vs fire when hit
Post by: Valen on August 09, 2012, 07:27:40 PM
Maybe we can have "fire damage" acording to the fuel we are carrying on? 50% plus u most probably cook unless u do a unreal dive.. 25% and less u have flame outs out of ur wings, i say this to encourage fight after someone is flamed, maybe less than 50% fuel u have flame outs and u can fly for 3 more minutes i dont know i just hate to see orange and blockage, the pilots in flames just know their fate and is boring, maybe give some more calor to this issue , ty.-

how long do you think a wing on fire will last with 25% fuel in the tanks?  how about the engine on fire?  well actually for the engine on fire it doesnt matter if there's 25% or 50% fuel in the tanks.

If your plane is on fire you have done something very wrong and should go back and check your tactics.

Plane + Fire = back in tower

How quick you get back to the tower is irrelevant IMO and I think the same amount of time for all planes and all fires is a good compromise.

Sometimes an empty fuel tank catches fire. That always confuddles me

"empty" tank should explode outright, because it will have best (closest to) combustible fuel/air mixture..

Depends.  Some aircraft, such as the A6M series, pump engine exhaust into the tanks to minimize that.
