There are 2 new movies coming out this year, those movies are a remake of Red Dawn. Which instead of Cubans and Russians we get North Koreans. It was gonna be the Chinese but Hollywood thought that would be to offensive. Next up you might know from May 1st, 2011 is a movie based off the events of finding and eventually killing Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. Those are the movies what do you think of them, and will you see them.

The Bin Laden one could be interesting...the Red Dawn remake looks horrendous - I'd be shocked if it was better than the Swayze 80's version

You know the only reason he would invade is because he is so ronery and wants to meet new friends
-
Why wouldn't the NK's want to invade. They know we have rice crispies.

WOLVERINES

China was not offensive, China was offended.
That's why a large sum of money was paid to the film company to change it.
At least the original was horrible and good at the same time. This remake will just be horrible.

The bin-laden movie is a feature-length re-election campaign ad, made using background information that still remains classified. I'm not sure what else can be said about it until people actually get a chance to see it and judge how good of an ad it really is.
The Red Dawn movie may be fun just to watch things go boom but the plot is stupidly unrealistic and that will probably ruin the movie for a lot of people. The only thing that could "save" the red dawn movie is if they don't violate the laws of physics too badly when doing the special effects. No helicopters flying through buildings, slow-mo matrix bullet dodging, etc. If the movie is technically correct then ignoring the plot entirely might make it fun to watch.
I doubt I'll watch the bin laden one but the Red Dawn one might be worth watching if I am ever stuck on an airplane or deployed again and really have nothing better to do for a few hours.

You cannot remake Red Dawn without the swayze.

:huh
One of the most cheesy & absurd things I have seen in ages. :bhead
I prefer this "Invasion USA" movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7L7WLFBYR4

At least in this version of Red Dawn they are invading a coastal state. One thing I never understood about the old one was how they were able to fly to the middle of Colorado without being detected . . . .
As far as North Koreans invading the US - they haven't even been able to re-invade South Korea for 60+ years, but they are going to stage a trans-pacific invasion of the US? :lol :lol
But yes, I'll probably go see it.

Remakes - How original. :bhead

In the original film, Powers Boothe's character revealed that the Cubans and their allies used passenger airliners to infiltrate US airspace initially. Then, they turned them into airborne transport aircraft over Colarado. Somewhere in that timeline, the Soviets offloaded tanks and men onto the coasts of Mexico through the Latin America version of a Warsaw Pact and proceeded to physically invade the USA. At this time in the world, Communism and the KGB kept a stranglehold on Mideast terrorists and drug cartels when this film was being made.
The good ole 80's. Best decade to be a teenager.

The release dates are over a month after the election, so it does not look to be to useful for the campaign. Perhaps the trailers will be used...

Um... The '80s was one of the worst decades for middle eastern terrorism in Europe and the rest of the world. Thousands of innocents were killed in numerous bombings and hijackings.

Yeah I remember the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983 particularly well. Grenada happened a short time afterwards and
I thought my unit was mobilizing to go to Lebanon for some payback.
As it turns out, they didn't need us for either.

If I was to write a screenplay for a contemporary Red Dawn film, then I would use a combination of a legitamate country or group of countries working together and radical organizations to be used in the suppression of an American town to be liberated from a group of teenage heroes who have no military training, military discipline, access to military weapons beyond any liberated arsenal, and be able to evade enemy forces with no supply network of lodging, food, clothing, medicine, intelligence information beyond any liberated ability while efficiently killing enemy forces, destroying enemy equipment, hindering any enemy expansion, and raising morale both behind enemy lines and in any Free America Zones.
With the catchphrase,
WOLVERINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

went to see Total Recall tonight...just barely followed the old story line, then the trailer to O' Dark 30... I thought it was Chinese...didn't get N.Korea from it...went by to fast. I guess they don't want you to know how stupid the plot is until you pay for your ticket... :bolt: :old:
-
The new total recall is not a remake of the old film, but the original short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.

The 1990 version is closer to the original story.
Both films have taken plenty of "creative license", though.

They always do...supposedly True Grit with Bridges is one of the few which attempt to be more closely lined with the novel. :airplane:

I went into the new True Grit already prepared to say, "nope - nobody out does John Wayne!", but I actually liked the new version. Not saying that I liked it better, just that I enjoyed it also. Favorite line from the new version - "I guess the sun got in your eyes - I mean your EYE!" :)
