Title: Me410/110 DT sway braces?
Post by: Krusty on August 12, 2012, 02:52:41 PM
I noticed the 410's wing DTs have sway braces that remain on the plane once the tank is dropped.

Is this right? From what I recall, I thought these sway braces were simple metal frames "pinned" between the wing and the tank at the connection points, an the reason the DT remained in place was tension placed on a central strap around the center of the tank winching it in.

Thus, when the tank is dropped the tension is gone and the braces fall away. There's also no central rack, just a strap/cable through a hole in the wing. Thus a clean jettison once dropped.

Can anybody confirm this?
