Match is at 5PM Pacific, 8PM Eastern showing on ESPN2.
Match is being played at Estadio Azteca, a 100,000+ Capacity hell hole at 7,000+ ft alt in the middle of Mexico City(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Z_YWTFNHUvw/S-mGDdE3pZI/AAAAAAAAAU0/aH534b09uqE/s1600/Estadio+Azteca_jpg.jpg)
United States have not won in Mexico, and their best result has been a draw. However, the United States had never beat Italy, but broke that streak earlier this year, in Stadio Luigi Ferraris, where Italy had never lost a game in the stadium's history.
Notable absences for the US are Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey (4th for most goals in the English Premier League last season, only behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, and Sergio Aguero), and Captain Carlos Bocanegra.
The highest scoring American in the history of the National Team, Landon Donovan, will be looking to score his 50th goal with the United States, and the current goal leader in MLS and winner of the Golden Boot in 2010 and runner up in 2011, Chris Wondolowski, will be looking to score his first international goal.

What's the odds from Vegas? :devil

Weird roster, lot of players missing. No Dempsey, Bradley, Bocanegra, Donovan or Altidore. And Alan Gordon gets his first call up at age 31. Klinsmann is either crazy or a genius.

*yawn* Thank Gawd real football starts next month.

Mexico is playing great at the moment. US is still in change mode. I think US will have a solid team for 2014 though.

Donovan is in it I'm damn sure, although he might be in just the 22, and not the 18. Also, Gordon has been a phenomenal sub for the Earthquakes this year, with 9 goals, and .98 goals/ 90 minutes, including 3 game wining/tying goals in 3 games in a row. I think Klinsmann might be trying to get the Quakes chemistry with Gordon/Wondo up top and feeding in balls to them from Beitashour (Also a first cap from him, and making it official he would be a US player, since before this, he had the option of playing for Iran.)

Whatever.
*yawn* kick ball around. Let Mexico score, get back on bus.

They are talking football not "Throwball"

Woo!
Final score 1-0 USA. Goal in the 80th minute by Michael Orozco, assist by Terrance Boyd.
Would have easily been Mexico's win 3-1 or worse if it wasn't for some great defensive work by Geoff Cameron and 2 heart stopping saves by GK Tim Howard. Cameron actually had just been traded from the Houston Dynamo to Stoke City in England, and this game easily proved that Stoke is getting their money's worth in my opinion.

Honestly I could care less. If our team couldn't make it to the Olympics and we haven't even been in the hunt for a world cup as a mens team it really doesn't matter. Soccer in the US is a girl sport and we are pretty good at it in the WOMENS GROUP but the boys that play it; just play it because they can't/won't or their moms will not let them play other sports. That is the honest to goodness truth.

Fun fact, the Men's tournament in the olympics is U-23. In otherwords, College players, very few pros for the most part, and we have been doing quite well in the WC lately. And it really isn't a womens sport in the US when the US Men's U-17 team beat the Womens senior team.
And if you think what you said is the truth, you my friend are sadly mistaken.

well done USA, crazy and Reschke the sooner you guys accept that football is the world's favourite sport BY FAR, the better.
Trying to be-little your own countries achievements at anything is pretty weak.

Thanks man, just bummed that last weekend was probably the last home game I get to see this season since I move back to school this week. Oh well, San Jose always has a friendly at my school each year.

Bite me! I said futbol can be boring at times, and i like american football better.
Anyway 80 mins of *yawn* but the last 10 minutes were good. Still think Mexico was the better team. WTG US for long awaited win at there place.
There I contributed commentary to this thread.

There, that is your contribution.

I guess Chicharrito will want to move now that he's #4 striker.
-
Mexico was the better team but great to finally get the Azteca monkey off the team's back. And another big win for Klinsmann, gives him that much more room to keep making the changes in playing style he wants, trying to get the US to play more of a possession style game.

Looks like Berbatov is set to move to Zenit St Petersburg. Too bad he isn't staying in the EPL, he never looks likes he's trying and then he'll pull out some ridiculous piece of skill.

Do we just not have the players to do a possession type game? :headscratch:
At times there is just no composure to hold that ball.
-
It's also positioning, like Klinsmann keeps putting Williams on the wrong side.

I think we clearly understand it's a popular world sport, but that doesn't mean it's going to be as popular in the US as Football, Basketball, or Baseball currently is. It might beat out Hockey, ;)..
Football, Basketball, and Baseball are fully integrated into our schools systems. In fall it's Football, winter it's Basketball, and in spring it's Baseball. They offer one right after the other, there isn't much room for soccer to take hold. Most schools offer soccer during the fall when football is offered. Unless you are attending a small school that let's you do both, all the best athletes choose Football over soccer because it's most popular sport in the US. So what Reschke said is technically 'true', all though I wouldn't have worded it exactly that way :D.

*Snip*
I atleast watched the game unlike a few in this thread.
2 mid pack clubs playing at high alt just didn't scream most awesome match time to grab my cerveza. ManU vs. Man city was a stinker this year as well. I watch the sport, so I'll comment on the game where, and when I feel. Good day to you!
