if we got subs I want my U-boat and if you stay in the middle of rivers you can get a very deep enemy base I've done it before in a PT boat drove for about 30mins to an enemy base got stationed of shore and let my rockets fly

It will be interesting watching you guys track 32 knot CV groups, then trying to evade ASW formations of heavy bomber carpetbombers
at under 10 knots.  Quite the challenge I'd say.

for the majority of the time we would have to be above water to catch the CV only untill we got within about 2500ft of eachother then should we submerge i think on the water the Subs would be pretty fast I think maybe 40mph max idk

Admittedly this is from Wiki, but Uboat.net had pretty much the same info.  The Type VII had a max speed of 18.6 knots for the fastest
variant <1942-3> and a max underwater speed of 7 kts.

The Gato class <the ones that have been appearing at our ports> were 2 Kts faster both on surface and submerged.

     See the problem?

knots * 1.15 = mph

A nautical mile is 6,076 feet and a statute<US normal> mile is 5280, thus the difference.

To make it simple, the CV moves almost twice as fast as the sub...even when it's on the surface.

Thus makes Submarines quite useless since unless the CV turns its doing 32knots all the time while a submarine can barely get 19 knots.

So.. You are going to need someone to AIR search and find a task force.....Drive at 19mph and "maybe" get in front of it most likely less then 5% ever will.

Useless and a waste of time.

If subs were launched from shore line bases like pt boats they could be used to attack cv groups as they attack those bases. With all the pt spawns we have and the awesome cv drivers that love to park on said spawns there would be very little time wasted attacking cvs.

I'd like to see a more developed naval warfare scheme in the game as well..

Separate invasion fleets.. Fast hunter killer surface fleets.. Subs.. Player spawned DD's..
LCT's spawned from LSD's in the Invasion fleet, so you can put tanks over the beach..

Massive possibilities in Naval warfare..

CV's are certainly faster than WWII submarines.  Catching a boat from a sub would be a roll of the dice.  However, it would make the routine call of "Turn the boat" to evade overhead bombers a more dangerous proposition.

As much as I'd like to see a high fidelity expansion of the game into naval warfare, I'm not sure it's worth the effort.  CV's aren't so hard to sink that we need another way to do it, IMO.  Doing so also takes us one step closer to "Battlefield WWII", which in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but I'm guessing the finite resources of HTC would be taxed greatly in such an expansion, likely resulting in the above water part of the game suffering.

Given that there likely has to be a choice made of which part of the war you'd like to closely simulate, I'll take the air 10 out of 10 times.
