Title: desperate people....
Post by: W7LPNRICK on August 28, 2012, 10:54:30 AM
Someone rifled through my house, didn't steal anything, kicked my dog when he probably startled them. My dog was so sore he couldn't jump up on the couch. Can't find anything missing...Butchie the Mini Schnauzer sounds ferocious, but he's pretty timid when confronted, must have scared them off the way he barks. He startles me when I come home early & surprise him. been a lot of would be intruders shot in Idaho lately. He's lucky my wife wasn't home alone.  :D

lol sorry to hear about your house but this reminds me of that Dane Cook bit about  kicking in someones door then not rtaking anything so the home owner wonders what it was that you stole, and having it bother thenm that they couldnt figure it out.

Or it could be "them" bugging your house.

Reminds me of My house being robbed in 07'. The valuables in our bedroom were gone but the laptop sitting on the table by the dog was not touched. I do believe they held the dog at bay with the backscratcher that was missing also.

It's not the stuff but the violation of your home that stinks. Hope your pooch is OK.

Once it happens, makes you feel violated & you understand why people shoot intruders before asking questions...not sure I could shoot some scared kid staring down my barrel, but I doubt he'd come back after changing his pants.  :ahand

Are you going to have an alarm installed or at least post signs
that you have one.

If guns aren't your thing I suggest one of these "safe bedside tables"

They make nice shotgun safes that mount to any bed frame.

Hope your dog recovers :old:

For breaking into your house they should birched in public.

For kicking your dog they should be birched alot.

This is scary stuff. I'm glad you got nothing taken and everyone is okay. I'd like to put the tough guy that kicked your dog in a room with my German Shepherd for 15 minutes.  :salute

I see your German Shepherd and raise you two killer pit bulls. Just heard on the news a pair got into some guy's yard and killed his black lab.

I hate and detest burglars, as far as I m concerned it's akin to mental rape, and the perpetrator, following said birching, should be locked in a cell with a randy bull queer for a month with no vaseline.

I plan on talking to them, if they happen to get past the dog, while the police are on the way...

Ratcheting a shotgun will let the intruder know where you are. Do not think that most will run or you may find yourself in too deep.

Rick,

I have had that unfortunate experience twice in my life.  The first was long ago but never forgotten as it was a week before Christmas.  The most recent was similar to your experience, because nothing was taken, but bleach was poured onto clothes that were left in the washing machine.  Now, the injury to any family member including your dog, is much more important than stolen or damaged items which can be replaced.

Video cameras seem to be a good idea.  I read once that Terrier's make very good security dogs because they are sneaky (usually hard to see) and don't give away their position (growl or bark) until they have the intruder in position.  The family dog will bark at your arrival, or to warn you if you are home, but alone they stalk and surprise.  Of course, I don't know how much of that is training versus instinct.

In the incident that occurred before Christmas, I was highly suspect that it was someone who knew me.  I had received a suspicious phone call at my work number just prior to the break in.  I was there late (but not as late as my usual shift).  When we (the party I was waiting for at work) arrived at the apartment we appeared to have surprised the thieves as they knocked over some plants on their exit from the back patio doors, and took some less expensive stereo equipment and left the more expensive stuff behind.

When my roomate heard and returned home, I recall very clearly that we (and our girlfriends) just silently sat in the living room staring for about a half hour into the empty space left in the entertainment center where the relic of a TV used to sit.

I won't be in too deep...some might. I'm tactical & don't scare or shake very easily. I know I can fire & advance & continuing firing until the threat is done. Some people really don't know themselves or how they will react...I do!  :salute

oh wow...thats crazy! hope your doggie feels better soon, poor baby :(

even though i have my 2 pitbulls and lab/pit mix puppy and now a 3rd pitbull (foster) that I am changing his name to Zeke from Esko, I still do not rely on my dogs to protect me even though I am sure they will, I am more vicious than them...my dogs can't hold their licker so I have to be more vicious than them....if anyone ever broke into my house....i pitty them for sure (no pun intended)  :salute

When my house was robbed in the first time in 74 they got everything in the house it looked like the movers came it was so cleaned out. The worse part was our German Sheppard Harvey. The scumbags hit him with a ball bat or something and broke his back and we had to have him put down. They did not need to hurt him he was a year old and a big baby. The cops never found the creeps that did it but that event made me want to enter law enforcement. A dog is a good thing to warn you if you are home but can become a victim as fast as you could plus a dog don't have the option of a firearm to protect themselves with.
