Its been two days since Evga put them out (drivers) and I have had nothing but smooth sailing on the 690s. Anyone have any other result?
-
According to Nvidia's website, that driver is still in BETA.
I'll be installing it once the kinks, if any, are worked out. I only have a GTS 250 anyways, so I'm not likely to notice much of an improvement.

I didnt check with Nvidia and Evga does not have it marked as beta. Interesting.
-
Even more interesting. Nvidia lists no updates as available and wants to run a Java GPU scan... requiring Java installation. Ummm... Nup!
-
I won't download from EVGA, simply because you're going to get more than you need. For example, I don't use 3D Vision, the audio drivers, nor the Nvidia auto updater. Nvidia will give you the options to install what you want/need. EVGA does not.
You'll only see all drivers on the Nvidia website, if you have selected the option to show all drivers.
306.02 is not a finished product yet, that's all I'm trying to say.

go to manual settings and install only the drivers. i never install the 3d or the sound drivers or the auto update. the option is given at teh begining of the install along with an option to do a clean install.

I see. For the record I just uncheck the 3D vision and audio drivers. Done. There is no indication on the Evga site that these drivers are unfinished.
-
Challenge, I can't show you the Nvidia link I'm referring to, until I get home around 6:45 pm est.
It shows a list of drivers, certified and BETA, to chose from. The driver you posted appears to still be in BETA.
Coogan
Edit: Hope I'm wrong, cause i'll be installing it tonight. :aok

coon i just downloaded the drivers. there is a beta but it's a prior version. the new one is not beta. this is from evga. also when you install the drivers dont do express, do custom installation and dont select 3d drivers of sound drivers and it wont install them.
here's the link. 304.48 was the last beta driver. but 306.02 is not beta.

It could be that Evga doesn't use the Nvidia reference drivers and use proprietary drivers instead. As Nvidia reference drivers go, the 306.02 are the latest beta version and it does improve performance, at least for me in a few games with the addition of some SLI profiles.

Like I mentioned in my reply to Chalenge, it could be that Evga uses proprietary drivers and not the Nvidia refefence drivers. The latest Nvidia beta reference driver is 306.02 which just came out 2 days ago.

What I got Now...

This is the last one that I am aware of that was WHQL.
Coogan

In this image you can see that the drivers are dated back to 11/10/2011. Some are BETA and some are WHQL. I limited the list, so I wouldn't take up too much space with my photo.

Note that the last WHQL realease was on May 22 of this year.

Show me the new certified driver please:
301.42 WHQL. (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us)
After that, they're still working on it.

man see the link I posted? click on it, then enter your info or dont enter it. dont really care. I dont have to prove anything to you. specially when i indicated that the new drivers are 306.02 not 301.42. the drivers for 301.42 were released back in may/22.
you can also scroll up and find out how not to install the 3d drivers and sound drivers and the autoupdate.

Exactly. I don't download from EVGA and I don't download BETA drivers. (306.02)
Thanks for clearing that up.
Coogan

Well see the difference is right there. I dont use the generic Nvidia drivers but instead I use the card manufacturers drivers.
I cant really see much difference but they are working well so far.

did you read the threads they're not beta. The driver released by nvidia are generic, the ones released by evga are designed for evga cards. evga. will usually released drivers before nvidia does. you should install drivers designed for your hardware. evga will tweak the drivers to work a little better with some games than what nvidia does.

I just downloaded the 306.02 driver from the EVGA Download center. The full name of the file is 306.02-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-beta.exe
-beta looks like a beta to me.

they just changed the description to beta. I had read the release notes and they dont say it was a beta, they actuall still dont say it's a beta release. but now the driver's themselves were changed to beta.

It is interenting that the Quadro Tesla driver is WHQL at 305.93 the day after the gaming cards were updated to a new (beta) driver.
-
Not trying to argue with you Chalenge over this. Always thought you've a stand-up guy in the community.
I suppose it's just personal preference, WHQL vs . BETA.

I think we adequately pointed out that the latest release was not notoriously marked as being beta.

howeve 100coogn you should really download your evga drivers if you have an evga video card. but instead of express install do a manual install and dont select the 3d drivers or sound drivers.

I've been using the 301.42 driver. As it's the most recent WHQL Certified driver. Some people choose to run the BETA drivers.
So far no issues with this driver.

If you're going to use the Nvidia reference drivers it won't hurt to get the 306.02 beta drivers as the drivers to improve performance over the latest official drivers.

I cant tell you specifically about the 550 Ti but I still have a system with 580s and the 306.02 drivers got rid of intermittent shearing from the vsync bug.

Unless the card manufacturer does a separate drivr WHQL certification the only WHQL driver is available from nvidia. Card manufacturer usually have access to those drivers a bit earlier and bundle them with some of their own OC/monitoring software. Sometimes they release this package a bit too early and get a little trouble with nvidia, they do not really like premature driver releases (AKA leaks).
-
Just upped to 306.02's from 304.48's (both Nvidia reference beta drivers):
Working very good for me w/ no hitches or glitches.
AHII ran very smooth & looked beautiful to boot.

By the way NVidia's SLI profile, for Aces High, is in desperate need of being updated.
