oooooooooooooo............... ... just hearing the name gives me chills....................... ...say it again..........
-
Damn nature.... You scary!
-
Tough dude.....survived a non-opening chute.
That said, I'm pretty sure he would be doing something closer to what Les Stroud does in his show if he were stranded in real life.

He's Irish you know, sort of, I don't say it with a sense of pride or anything.
I have to say. I would prefer not to find myself in a survival situation with him. He does some silly dangerous things.
-
I'd want this guy with with me in a survival situation

His show is awesome. I've never seen the Lion King though, I barely know that picture is from that cartoon.

A cartoon is a show, Lion King is a movie, basically Hamlet set in Africa, played by lions

I used to love this guy along with les stroud until I seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UpSlpvb1is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UpSlpvb1is).
Turns out Bear doesn't actually do any survival - instead he's 50 feet from a high way and stays in a cushy hotel at night. Maybe its the TV show and producers don't want him hurt, but then again its called false advertising.
I do have one of his hunting knives, and its just a cheap piece of crap just like his show is really, most of the knife is serrated which makes it useless for woodlands, although I only paid $15 for it, I thought it was a serious knock off of the military knife KMF II Infantry black.
I used to carry the knife with me all day long, but lately I switched to the Gerber knife, seems to much better handling with a better rubber grip.
Bear's knife went dull after the first 6 months, Gerber hasn't dulled yet, still sharp as day I bought it.

I prefer R Lee.

Bear Grylls is a prat of the highest order. He supposedly is being instructive about survival techniques yet takes ridiculous risk like eating raw meats and fish, and diving into ice pools for no good reason. Spend two weeks in the wilderness with Grylls and you'd be nursing two broken ankles from sliding down a scree slope, and drinking your own urine.
Spend a fortnight with Ray Mears in the wilderness and in three days you would be living in a log cabin, with a roaring fire, eating venison and supping home brew. :old:
-
^ this. Ray goes into the wilderness with a knife, a firestone and some paracord and returns having put on 10lbs :D

Shane McConkey is in my mind better at Bear Grylls stuff than Bear is. He died a few years ago but a documentary about his legendary exploits (most were filmed) is coming out this year.
Trailer here.
