Title: Need Catalyst version recommendation for *old* video card...

Hi all,

I just found a replacement Radeon 9800 Pro video card for my old Dell Dimension PC (the original 9800XT card recently died).  I can run AH with the 9800 Pro, but the radar bars are gray.  I am currently using the last Dell-approved driver update for it, but I assume that there probably were later ATI driver updates which fixed this.  

QUESTIONS:

1)  Can someone suggest an ATI Catalyst version which was known to work well for AH?

Heya TDeacon, 
The ATI 9800 series ran best in AH using the  ATI (AMD) cat 4.12 version drivers best
I can recall.....  that is the version I have always used

Thanks TC; I will try Cat 4.12 then.  

Now, where is a safe place to download them from...?  The AMD link I list above doesn't go back prior to Cat 8.

I suppose you'd be fine with Cat 8.1: The display driver is rev. 8.10 while Cat 4.1's display driver is 8.082 according to the release notes of 4.12 (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/Catalyst_412_release_notes.html) and the download side of Cat 8.10 (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/8-10/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx?&lang=English)
