OK, so it's not in a barn. It's in a field. Russian SU152? Looks to have been there quite a while. They beat on it a bit and voila!!
Looong (18min) youtube video, all in Russian (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=n_aDMqFrUV8)
I skipped ahead alot but found it interesting that they not only got it to run but got it to move.

Well, watched the whole thing and I got the one question answered, which was, "Wonder if that gun is still functional?". My guess is it WAS, till one of them melted a hole into the bottom of the barrel. :(
-
Impressive. Someone just made a lot of money....
:aok
-
Wow, what a tough tank, you're right about that USmarine hehe :aok
-
Wow. I really hope to see that thing moving around a field someday. I was going to say "cleaned, painted, and spit shined", but we're talking about a Soviet AFV not a British parade vehicle. :)
-
Typical, we used to have the devils own job starting fully maintained and serviced Chieftans on the tank park after they had been left overnight :bhead
-
Just plain wow.
That is so much cooler than findin a '32 Ford :)
An that motor sounds *nasty* still .. just amazin it was able to fire up and roll out.

I have to admit. Reading about one of the most trivial, but amazing things in the Battle of Stalingrad was incredible. The Germans used Standard Gun Oil to clean their weapons with and it caused a lot of problems, including bolts freezing rendering the weapons useless. The Soviets mixed in some Kerosene to prohibit that effect to a lower temperature. Resourcefulness is a good thing and harkens back to the adaptation of the Shermans in France.

Too bad all the Russians will be back on колхозы after the zombie apocalypse :lol.

There's a video of a group pulling a Stug III out of a river and they didn't try to start it, but nothing was frozen up on it. The Germans apparently put it in the river to "get rid of it" when they were falling back.

The Russians are recovering quite a few tanks. Here a Stug 40 recovered last Summer in remarkable condition.
The tools are still in the toolbox!
