I wish we could have an offline option whereby we can use the recorded information in a film to recreate a scenario.
All the aeroplanes and GVs would move exactly the same on the same terrain, but you can move differently. This would be useful to practice a move or shot that was made incorrectly previously.
It would also provide some target practice for a variety of angles and positions.
You would spawn in air exactly where you were in a particular film segment, and then are free to move.
I realize that this would have limitations, but given that the film has all the flight paths of in-range contacts, it seems doable.

I'd think it'd be easier if there was an option to just revive instantly.

I believe that's the way the AirWarrior film viewer worked.
Take it a step farther..
Play the film in a multiplayer arena and the host can assign arena members to specific players in the film. The film starts with about 10 seconds ( settable ) of flight time before releasing control to the new pilot. Then the film just plays the path of the AI craft until end of film.. or it set so the AI planes disappear while the 'real' players play like normal.
