Title: Add Resupply Points to the Bomber and Vehicle Scores
Post by: Seagoon on September 05, 2012, 01:13:00 PM
In reality, transport pilots do more to win a war than fighter pilots. I believe the new strat system should reflect that.

I know that you gain perks for doing a resupply run, but points gained for doing a resupply should also be included in your pilot score, this would also be a big incentive for people to do at least as many resupply missions as bomber missions. At the moment, pilots are favoring buff runs on strats, not resupplying them because they pad their scores and get perks.

It would also be a morale boost if there was a message in the buffer saying "PILOTX landed X resupply points." You'd get WTGs for flying C47s for the good of your country from other players.

At the moment you can easily make 10 times more perks by doing resupply runs than by doing actual combat. What more incentive do you need?

Yes, you can make perk points. You see them and they allow you to buy nifty toys. But lets face it, the real pilot incentive is scalps, people fly for the kill and damage messages and the backslapping when you do well. At present, there is no "attaboy" system worked in for resupply and it shows in that there are still more people on who knock down the strats than resupply them.

Also, if you are going to invest your game time in doing a good job keep your side up and running, it should show in your score. I'd rather have one goon driver who invests his time rebuilding the city than a half-dozen vainglorious fighter jocks who see their team mates as "bait".

There's a limit how much running supplies should be encouraged by perks, points and fame.
Because the game is about combat, players interacting with each other. If too many players do run supplies, it's detrimental to that cause. Fighting should hold more reward than not fighting, unless you are a very unexperienced two weeker.

Last night I did a strat run and saw some darbars appearing on and off. I was preparing myself to be attacked, as I was circling over the strats for a total of 35 minutes. But nothing happened. I checked the film and saw... not a single fighter, but several goons hauling supps to the city I was attacking. Obviosly there are much bigger incentives in running safe resupply runs than to shoot down my bomber. In fact, I believe my bombs were a godsend to them... ;)

In addition to that, rearm pads should both be able to be taken out and brought back upon proper resupply.

I would actually like to see re-supply runs in GV's and bombers be reflected in the appropriate overall score categories (bomber & GV).  Not so much interested in the name in lights for running supps.

There is no better protection than a flight of friendly buffs way below my own formation. No escort fighter can provide such a degree of safety  :devil

Same could be said about milkrunning towns but alot of people do it and maybe 1 or 2 may chase, not much fighting there :bolt:
