Title: Events Website Compromised
Post by: waystin2 on September 08, 2012, 10:59:21 AM
Hello Event CM's,

I was trying to go to the AHEVENTS.Org website and I get warnings about malware.  Here is the report from Google:
http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http%3A%2F%2Fahevents.org%2F&client=googlechrome&hl=en-US (http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http%3A%2F%2Fahevents.org%2F&client=googlechrome&hl=en-US)

Do you know when the site will be back up and safe for registration purposes?

 :salute

correct -- if we opened it up, you might catch some malware that shipped off your hard-drive to some russian.  We clean it, they re-infect it.  We're working on it.

As a temporary workaround.  We had the site clean under ahevents.net for a bit, then it also got infected.

Spike, myself, and others have cleaned up the ahevents.org site.  It should be functional, but be warned that we may not have closed all the wholes the hackers used to breach the site.  So we are still monitoring it.  IF you use Chrome or Firefox it will still report as malware / suspicious until we request a validation from them.  Internet Explorer doesn't really check this, or at least not on the versions I've used to hit the site.

So it is up, but could go down at any time.
