Title: NFL Fans fading?
Post by: SEraider on September 10, 2012, 11:57:39 AM
Other than my team, I can't bring myself to watch the NFL as much as I used to.  I am just tired of all the commercials.  I wish it can be more free flowing and less commercial interruption.

What do you guys think?

Owners trying to stuff their pockets is killing the league. Why would I pay $100 dollars for just one ticket (and only the ticket) When that could pay for me and 2 and of my buddies to go see an MLS match (20 dollars a ticket), with enough left over for gas and parking? Last time I went to an NFL game, I was sitting 2 rows from the endzone, and ended up falling asleep during the 3rd quarter because of all the TV timeouts. Going to an NFL game is a complete waste of money in my opinion now.

I like you can't watch a whole game most of the time. Thats where the NFL red zone comes in. Just highlights of all the teams touchdowns and major plays. There were some close games sunday though with the 49ers and Greenbay battling it out.

I am in a friendly Football Pool and we pick the winners for that week. I think it makes the other games more interesting as I have a stake in them.  :)

Not me.  I watch the Lions game from start to finish, then turn to the Red Zone channel.  During the Lions game I don't mind the commercials, the commercials that are on during NFL games are entertaining, unlike other TV programs.  And the NFL is far and away the best sports league.  The only sport I really get into, far more than anything else.  The only thing that comes close is the NCAA men's basketball tournament opening weekend, and honestly, I like a generic NFL weekend better than even that.

Well ya, those were the days of Mortie's Travel-Be An Eagle For A Day.   :lol

Grew up just north of Philly and all I remember is buying pretzels on the street while still in your car.

Now a Pats and still an Eagles fan, but no time to watch. Jeep and family, thank god Pats play a lot of night games, those I can watch.

I think the 4th quarter should be ad free. We've already suffered thru 3 quarters, cut us some slack

Actually if you pay attention, they do have much fewer commercials at the end of the game.  Especially once the game gets close to 3 hours long or if they've already shown their quota of commercials for the game.

I don't see it like that, average 2 timeouts per team and the 2 minute warning.

But, they dont take breaks after punts that often as they do in the 1st quarter.

I too have been wondering why I can't get excited about football anymore.   :frown:
Part of it, at least, is the absence of the mystique created by artists like Howard Cosell and John Facenda.

In Monday Night half time reports, Cosell could make the previous day's games Epic, and Facenda made football Holy.

Locally, I'm waiting for a change of ownership and a new old standard for 'class' before I get excited about "my" team, the Cowboys.

I'm thinking because perhaps I have 2 little ones and a wife that my priorities changed and that I life in a different spectrum.  I also opened pandoras box on world events in depth through documentaries that I'm so cynical now.   :lol
