The pictures of the people do the same thing for me as the ones of the burning WTC or the plane about to hit... Remind me of how I don't ever want to feel like that again.

:salute to the NYPD, NYFD, Port Authority, and the unsung heroes that day!

As I watched it on TV I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Never Forgotten :salute
Through the smoke and haze,
We won't forget those days.
When we gasped as one,
at the evil that was done.
And later that night,
We held our loved ones tight.
for not all our friends
would we see again.
What we had found,
On that hollowed ground,
was we can all be one,
when danger has come.
Time has passed,
and old habits are grasped.
Can we not teach,
how life should have peace.
Now at the Base,
We have dedicated a place.
To celebrate the lives,
of those who have died.
Rise from the ashes,
from those deadly crashes.
for it is now the hour,
Smile at the Freedom Tower!

Three of my flight attendant friends and co workers were on Flt 93. I still tear up when I think of them. I wish I could still hear their voices and laughter on the jumpseat next to me.....

Its necessary imho. All too often we forget that there a people attatched with names. Its horrible to see and to this day angers me like no other, but it doesnt change what happened, and that it happened to innocent people. I think we owe them that much. To at least see their faces. Lest we forget. Sorry my tc

The guy who sat next to me at my C++ class was supposed to be on one of the top floors in one of the towers for a conference. Because he had this C++ class the evening of 9/10 in Kentfield, CA, his company said he could fly out one day later. That probably saved his life. Everybody from his company, other than the CEO, who was supposed to be at the conference died. His CEO survived because he couldn't find a place to park.

If it was small he wouldn't dare pay the parking rate. it isn't small fee.

I remember this day, I was doing my Master's degree and one of the PhD students came and told us. We saw the second tower come down live on TV. There was an eerie silence. The next day we had a two minute silence on campus, every student, every staff member gathered in one place.
Where were you and what were you doing?
:salute
-
:furious For the past 10 years, every school in NYC did a moment of silence (about 10 min) on 9/11. This year they decided not to. Pretty much every person i know went "wtf".

I was doing pretty much the same thing I am doing now, posting on forums instead of working.
A thread came up 'A plane just crashed into the World Trade Centre' and by page 4 it was 'Another one just hit...damn terrorists'

I remember going to school that day and seeing it happen on TV before I left but not understanding it. All the teachers were huddling together some crying some stoic. Then a week later or so I realized what had happened.
My dad left that week for DC he still wont say what for. (He was active duty Air Force at the time.)
My Uncle was heading to the towers that day, he was managing/owning a few Manhattan McDonalds at the time (the one he was heading to was in the basement of the WTC). He rode into the City on the Long Island Railroad and then took a tube to Manhattan. Luckily he was running a little late that day. He arrived shortly after the first plane hit. He then proceeded to assist the first responders and he wouldnt tell you but the people he worked with and saved that day called it heroism. At some point he went home and returned to his family who had no idea if he was alive.
Thats what I remember. It may not be all my story but if anything is taken from it it should be that we shouldnt forget the regular people who died because they went to help others that day.

I would like to thank you for what you did there sir, I look up to people like you.

I was at a private school when this happened, we went into "lockdown" mode and school was dismissed early.
Then I got home and my parents told me to watch the TV and they told what happened.
-
I was on a business trip near Pittsburgh, close to where Flight 93 went down.
I flipped the news on and saw the second tower burning... I had no idea what was going on, I had just gotten up... I remember thinking "That looks like the World Trade Center, but where is the other building?"... and then it collapsed.
Will never forget that day.
:salute to those beautiful sons of squeakes on Flight 93.

I lived on Fort Knox at the time. Some crazy things started happening around there. Closed the post period no on or off first time I ever saw that. Had AA units and a unit of MPs in humvees patrolling the grounds of the gold vault. Military jets for the first couple days were all over the place. It was a hectic time.

It was the first day of a divisional FTX in Grafenwoehr. A deadly seriousness settled into the exercise.
