Title: ugly freeze n crash
Post by: bongboy1 on September 13, 2012, 02:37:55 PM
Recently, I've been having trouble with ah2 freezing up n me having to turn off computer. Its an ugly freeze that makes the screen flash colors n the sound freezes as well. Alt F4, or cntrl alt del won't do anything, so I'm forced to push the button n turn it off. Is there anyway I can figure out why this is happening? Oh n it only happens when I'm in flight. Its almost as if something triggers it each time.

Overheating is a possibility.  Resource starvation is also another one.  Some video card drivers simply fall apart if there is not enough resources for a frame draw.

A DXDIAG output might help.

May be overheating. With 2 dogs n a cat, I gotta dust that thing regularly. I don't think its my video card because its not an old computer. I run 75fps with the video settings about half way up. I'll dust it out n see if that helps. Thanks guys <S>

Frame rate is irrelevant.  If the video card runs out of resources, all bets are off as to what might happen.

A dxiag would help others assist you.  It'll give folks a clear idea of your system specs.
