Alternative Maps

I've seen maps that others have created, that are more detailed than this. I didn't mark things like the fuel depots or barracks. IMO, those are quite
easily seen in the game. The ack is also not marked, for it will be shooting at you if it's still up.
The hangers are not numbered. These maps are just for quick reference to where all the hangers and Ords are located on each base.
Hope ya like them. Criticism welcome.

May want to change the x's for the FH's to a different color. Or make them more noticeable, because it's not too noticeable. If anything, bolding them all would make it better. :aok
Otherwise, nice work. :salute
-
Instead of "X": you could use "F" for fighter hangars, "B" for bombers and "V" for vehicles. Also change "O" to "Ords", because the O could be mistaken for an ack emplacement.

I just today stumbled upon a map set that has a sepia toned old paper effect behind the lot of them and is quite clearly labeled and shows the individual strat objects, too. Great set. Unfortunately I 1) can't recall who assembled it (so can't give credit!) and 2) can't put it up as my host is down right now.

After reading your guys' suggestions, I've made a few changes and this is where I'm at now.
(I like this a lot better than what I started with...)

That map looks a lot better, but the gun placement dots are a bit big. Maybe size them down a small bit and also label the "indestructible" hangar accordingly. Overall though, its great.

Looking good, sir. You could also label the manned acks "MA". If there are 17 lb guns, you could put a "17". Leave the auto acks as plain circles but like skorp said, make them smaller.
One other thing would be to remove the numbers from the fuel depots, as it adds clutter. A better move would be to number the ord bunkers. The hangars, ord bunkers and radar are the most popular targets and should be the easiest to pick out.
-
Wouldn't it be even more useful if the ingame identifiers (as being displayed by destruction messages or being used in .det) would be used for labeling on map?
FTH for fighter hanger
VHH for vehicle hangar
GNG for auto gun
AMB for ords bunker
RDR for radar
and so on.

One more nitpicky little thing :o: make the Fighter Hangar icon yellow and the VH white (leave the Bomber icon blue) and all will be right with the world.
Is there a key for the different ack symbols?
-
Thanks for the feedback caldera.
The field guns with a white center are the 88's. The ones with a black center are manned ack. The rest are auto ack. I'll see if I can add something to the map to identify the guns.
That's a good idea about breaking up the hanger colors. I should have that done this evening.

Cool beans. You could designate the manned acks with little black skull and crossbones. Or put an "S" for Snuggie. :devil
-
Hopefully, a finished product. Included a small diagram depicting what each ack-symol represents.

I think you missed an ordnance bunker next to the indestructible hangar. Other than that it looks great.

Just double checked the AH map. Only 4 ords on the Medium Airfield.

Don't mind it then. Its just another useless "indestructible" building.

Getting an "Invalid File" message from Mediafire, sir.
Clicking on AHII MAPS works. Coogan's Maps 2012[/url] does not.
Thanks, btw. They are very helpful. The blue text runneth over. :)

I had to make a few last minute changes to the v-base map. By the time it was done, my previous post had expired to which I could no longer edit it, nor the link.
The link in my sig. has the current maps created by all of us. <no I in team>
Check the v-base map to see your skulls caldera. Used them for the 17 pounders though...

Your maps look good, sir and I like the skulls. :lol
The Large Field map needs an "F7" for the corresponding fighter hangar. Also, is there a Port map in the works?

ooops, missed one.
Yes, I'm working on a Port map. It should be done today.

*Edit* Fixed the F7 hanger on the large map. The link in my sig. contains the updated maps.
