There are a lot of things that could be said about those 2 dogs and their owner(s).  All I am going to say is I'm glad the officer didn't get torn to shreds.  It is too bad a dog was killed but dog food should be restricted what comes out of a bag or can.

Feel sorry for the dog, but I'm glad the police officer wasn't hurt.  Didn't seem like he had much choice.  Looked like that second dog was going to join in the attack too until the gunshots scared him away.

Jeez what if that was a girl scout or a lost kid.  If you have a dangerous animal it should be kept behind a barrier and not allowed to just run out and attack.  I don't know that I could have made that shot.  dang!

In that case, seems like they should've shot the owners as well.

Sad for the dog. The L.E.O. had no choice, though. Those dogs would have torn him to shreds.

Hard to say if they were just being protective or if the owner raised them to be vicious.

Is the second LEO saying "Get the jaw?"

Either way, did what had to be done.

Is the second LEO saying "Get the jaw?"

Either way, did what had to be done.

Grabbing the jaw hard (hand in mouth and fingers underneath) is one technique albeit a last resort technique to stop a dog from momentarily from biting, long enough to get out the pistol, OC, taser, Asp, radio, etc.  We "practiced" on LEO dogs using "soft hands" so not to hurt them (or more so no not piss them off so that they did bite).

FWIW, if a dog ever comes after you and you are defenseless, knowing that the dog is trying to get a hold on you and eventually get your neck (yes, they are smart enough to go after you neck if they can), gather enough of your bravery and inner strength and give them your "weak arm" to grab and then get ready to start gouging eyes, pulling ears, anything to cause it pain and injury.  Yell and scream and make as much noise as possible.  Find anything you can to use as a weapon (rock, shovel, pen/pencil, twig, etc).  What ever you do not let it knock you over.

Keep telling yourself that. There are tons and tons of bad owners of other dogs that aren't killing children and mauling people to death. Sure you may have a nice one now, and just like everyone else with one your first line to the reporters/cops will be " But it was such a sweet dog that would never hurt a flea", "I don't know why it bit my kids face off". I am a dog lover and my sister has 3 pits (mixes) and they are sweet dogs, but I would never let them near my son. When pitbulls snap, its brutal. There is something wrong with the breed. They need to be exterminated.

Dogs fall for the head fake or feint about 100% of the time but are fast enough for it not to matter in many cases.

The only mistake the cop made was not gunning down the second dog.

Clearly the owner was up to no good setting those animals loose when the cops were banging on his door.  He probably was hoping for the cops to get mauled by them.  And this type of animal is all too common, some sort of pitbull halfbreed mutt.  When you got the SPCA this is at least 60% of the dogs stuck there unadopted because they can be aggressive and dangerous when uncontrolled.  Sure, they can make an excellent guard dog, but all too often proper control isn't maintained by the owner and some unfortunate person ends up badly mauled.

Well, the behavior of the majority of ill-mannered children/pets can be traced directly back to the parents/handlers..

A two legged attack dog, killing a four legged attack dog..
Looks like the cop had no choice to me.. Ugly situation..
Pitbulls, I just don't trust that breed, or the people who own them..

Buddy of mine, military dog handler.. Said that the best way
to stop them bare handed, is by ramming your hand right in
their mouth and grabbing a fistful of their tongue..

When you have them by the tongue, the last thing they
want is to bite you.. They will do ANYTHING to spit your hand OUT!
Then you can do as you please to them, totally at your mercy..

That is the word from a guy who I trust, and was in a position to know!

a true APBT would not attack a person.... unless they were hurting the owner even then it may not....they made the worst guard dogs of all.....why is that? because they were breed to love people....they would never attack a person.

none of the dogs they call "pitts" are American PittBull Terrier's (sorry Betty)  they are what is called AM-Staffs....when they started breeding APBT for the show ring they no longer cared about the traits of the APBT they only bred the biggest and best looking dogs....losing the great traits of the APBT they have lost that love of people that true APBT had......

this is not my opinion it is fact......anybody that has an inclination can find out....

and yes an AM-staff will/can have papers saying it is APBT.... does not mean it is.....now a days a lot of the dogs are not even Am-Staffs they are a mix of bulldogs and Am-staffs that are the worst of dogs.....they call them Bully-pitts....

it is actually very hard to find a true APBT......

Grabbing a pits jaw is not suggested. With over 2000 lbs ofbiting force your hand will be gone.

Glad the officer is ok. I laughed at the part where the family forgave the officer for defending himself. There are a lot of stupid folks out there. You know this so called family is a group of them.... They require the police to keep watch on their children.

I recall a story out of Maryland a few years ago where the sheriff and police had a no-knock warrant for suspected drug activity at a house.

It turns out, the house belonged to the mayor of the community and his family.  The police had intercepted a FED-ex shipment of 30 lbs of marijuana addressed to the mayors house.

So the police let it be delivered, and once the wife brings the package inside, the police force their way into the house.  The family has two golden retrievers or labs, and the police shoot them both.  One of the dogs they shot in the back as it was trying to escape up the stairs.

Turns out, the family had no idea about the package, it was un opened.  It is said drug operations will sometimes pick out a house at random and send drugs to it, either to pick it up when no-one is looking, or see if it generates police activity.

I love videos like this. When a weapon is justifiably used in self defense. And everything goes right.  :salute

Obviously can't prove anything, but it sure looks and sounds like those dogs were released on the officers. If they weren't being held up somewhere within the house then why the delay before they simultaneously come running through the open door?

Shoulda shot the other one too. Yeah, yeah, poor dog and all but... it's just a dog. And owners like that do not deserve to own even one.

Gotta love the guy freaking out at the end. As if his actions weren't 100% responsible for the dog's death.

This one was a monster. True probably because of it's owner but you can't shoot the owner because of the dogs attack.

Not saying some shouldn't not be shot. lol

Happily we no longer have PBs in our neighborhood.

I might add that here we shoot dogs in the pasture if they are in groups. Single they are fine... in groups many dogs tend to feed on the other's excitement and they become a danger to the livestock.

You know any dog can be a killer if  raised wrong  :old: I have been even attacked(I think thats what he was doing) once by a Yorkie, so I had its owners put it down since all it woulda took is one well placed bite and I coulda bleed to death or it could have mauled a child.

Go to google news and search for "pit bull attack".  There have been two deaths (both killed by the family dog) and dozens of attacks.  Many owners stating that they have 'never been aggressive before'.  In my opinion it is the breed.  Ban them all.

Have you ever be exposed to a Pit? they can be loveing dogs, scary fast but loving.  When I was a meat cutter at whole foods my super's wife was nearly killed by a black lab(small report in news not much else) It really boils down to the dogs personal temperment, and the way the owners treat them.

Shutzhund training requires the opposite.

It's not that my dog doesn't "get it", it is more like she isn't intimidated by it.

Sort of a desired quality in a personal protection dog.

Its actually pretty easy for me...

Dog threatens me? Dog will die.

Unknown dog on my property? Dog will die.

Dog threatens those who matter to me? Dog will die.

Anyone on this forum don't like my ideas.....bring your dog around and turn it out.....then carry the remains off....if you can find them.

I spent years raising and training setters, pointers, hounds, spaniels.... and I was never idiot enough to believe that a dog wouldn't turn on me if the right circumstances appeared.

Some people here love to think they are experts at everything....they think they actually control an ANIMAL.....

That the difference between myself and some here....I know I can not control an animal..so if needed I will kill the animal without  remorse.

In my job I run into dogs on a daily basis. I've been bitten several times thru the years. I've been chased  by dogs for being in the neighborhood. I've had them attacked the tires  on my vehicle.

You know the best part of it all? Listening to the owner explain to a police officer how the dog never-ever-for-any-reason would bother much less attack anyone or anything....that was right before they received the citation, next it was " I don't own that dog".......

Guess that makes me a bad person in the eyes of some here....wanna bet how much sleep I will lose over those ideas?

L.E.O. Killing dogs is not new.. I learned 20 years ago when I was 9..sheriff came to my neighbors house, my neighbor had a female pit name Princess, she was soo playful that even the mailman play with her. I remember my neighbor used to get mad because everytime strangers (salesman and jehova witness etc.) Enter his property Princess would run at them and start licking away, she would even pick up her ball and bring it to so you can play with her... I was on my front yard when a squad car arrived at my neighbors home, 2 deputys walked up to the gate, Princess was there meeting them, she looked so happy wagging her tail... It all happen in the blink of an eye...from outside the gate the deputy reached over the top of the gate and shot princess one time on top of her head...

Yea I do think that it is OK to kill a dog that is unfriendly.  If a sheriff respond no a noise complaint at your home and you have a dog on your property visible from outside the sheriff will kill dog before entering your front yard to knock on door......   I think about a year ago the FBI began a investigation on the LASD, they even had agents go to jail to see if what all the fuzz was about... I do know this , Cops dont do things they do because they hate people or animals.. Its people that make them act that way. As an adult I learned that my neighbor was on parolled and Princess was trained to attack cops and black people...now that is sad..

Sad that the dog died

and to the "1 pit down" remark - let me just go kill all the black folks because the ghetto is the most dangerous place to live. SMH.

You're a pathetic piece of work. I've raised pits my whole life and not ever has one ever bitten someone. Most of the time I got bullied off the couch by them.

That's a pretty big reach. If you are too stupid to realize the difference between people and animals, that's on you.

As a dog owner and lover I'd say the cop did what he had to do and I'd do the same to any dog that attacked.

However,I dont blame a breed of dog because it could be any "type" of dog that attacked the officer, but it happened to be a "pitt type" dog.

Someone mentioned you cant shoot the owner, well that might be true but you could and should charge the owner with attempted murder! A trained dog can be as dangerous as a loaded gun, maybe more so because the owner of the gun has to actually use it whereas the dog has a mind of it's own.

Another person claims to have trained many dogs and then goes on to say he'd shoot any stray on his property,I think that might go too far but I too would do what I needed to to protect those that matter to me.

I've had dogs all my life, many different breeds and types from working dogs like shepards and dobies to terriers like airedales and bullterriers. My folks bred toy poodles back in the 60's and the meanest most dangerous dog we ever had wasnt the 100lb shepard watching the business,it was the 7lb male poodle we had!  Nothing came on his territory unless he ok'd it.  He had to be put down because he was just to dangerous, all 7 lbs of him.

For the past 30 years or so I've raised and bred both bullterriers and staffordshire bull terriers, both are considered "Pitt type" dogs,I would have to say they have been among the best dogs I ever had.

All dogs can and will bite! In 99% of the cases it's the owner not the dog.  I dont think just anyone should own or be able to own any dog,if you breed of choice grows to be above about 30lbs then you should show that you are capable of handleing the animal. Similar to how you should be able to handle a gun if you own one.

First off genius, pitbulls are NOT a breed, its a mixture of breeds, secondly ANYDOG can attack if not trained right, statistics show that dogs that attack are the ones that spend most of their life tethered to objects in the yard. They lack training and limitations. The canine research council has a ton of info u are welcome to look up if u like about this kind of stuff and im sure u will be surprised to find small dog breeds tend to bite more than larger breeds such as pits, rotties, german shephards, and so on. Pitbulls get bad reps from idiots owning them. My boys are currently in their 2nd week of their canine good citizen training class and once certified by the state of michigan, they will get their training and cert for therapy dogs, after stuka and tank (pitbulls) are done with their CGC then my pitbull foster (soon to be adopted) Zeke and my 9 month old lab/pit pup will take their CGC class and cert also and then onto therapy. I am a HUGE pitbull advocate, i educate the ignorant and misguided about them and i change their minds by education. Too many go by what they hear on the news. Its all negative, you dont hear about the pitbull that pulled her dunk passed out owner of the railroad tracks after she passed out on them. Or the pitbull that followed they young child out of her yard after the ignorant parents werent watching her and the pitty stayed there with the child until she was found safe. Of course you dont hear these stories cuz they arent negative enough. Next time before posting stuff like you did, educate yourself first with facts not false accusations.

I keep seeing all these negative posts about pitbulls, and i have to give everyone some advice. Look up the canine research council website. There was a no kill conference in lansing this past weekend and a friend of mine Lori attended, she told me that this is a fantastic place to find all kinds of info that is done by researchers, its all fact based, no he said she said stuff. Educate yourself with this knowledge before judging, millions of pitbulls die every day because of BSL laws and shelter over crowding due to over breeding. If people realized that they can be part of the solution instead of part of the problem there wouldnt be so many dying and we wouldnt have to fight these BSL laws, which btw has 75 different dog breeds on the list including springer spaniels, lab retrievers, golden retrievers, along with rotties, pits, apbt, argentinos, presa de carnarios, german shephards, etc. IF THESE bsl laws are passed in your home towns, they can go from home to home using this list and TAKE your dog without your permission and you CAN NOT stop them. Google it, look up bsl law dog breed list, you will see if your dog is on there, and if you are quick to jump on the "ban the pitbull" bandwagon, it will bring bsl laws, bsl laws will bring that list with it, so think long and hard before you yell "BAN PITBULLS" because it will be a can of worms you wish you hadnt opened up......

Shutzhund training requires the opposite.

It's not that my dog doesn't "get it", it is more like she isn't intimidated by it.

Sort of a desired quality in a personal protection dog.
I was walking about 1/4 mile from my house last year with the wife, it was late evening, not quite dark yet, with hardly any warning a large black dog charged us coming out of some bushes. We were on the edge of the road, quite a ways from the sidewalk. The yard was fenced & we had no idea the dog was out. Anyway, I drew my pistol from the startle response and had it pointed down his throat in short order. He slammed on the breaks 3-4 feet from the barrel, turned quickly & retreated. I would have killed him without any hesitation, if he hadn't stopped. The look of realization on his face when he saw the pistol was priceless. Not saying this to "Prove" anything, except perhaps dog vs pistol is not an equal match...He would have been dead, no matter whose dog he was.... :old:

actually Betty Pittbulls are a breed their real name is The "American Pittbull terrier"  which is almost extinct....your dogs are not APBT's they are "American Staffordshire terriers"....same with 99.99% of all "pitbulls"

a real American pittbull terrier...would never be over 55 Lbs...at fighting weight they were in the 40 lb range.....what people call pitts today is from breeding APBT years ago for the show ring.....getting bigger dogs and losing the drive to fight...and the Love of people that APBT were known for.....I know some wont except this as truth but it is the truth.....

thats not to say that American Staffordshire are bad dogs.....obviously anyone with half a brain should know the dog is molded by the owner in its upbringing....encourage it to be aggressive to people....well thats what you get....a dog that has a very high tolerance to Pain, that just dont give up......

back when Dog fighting was a suit and tie affair they NEVER allowed an APBT to be a "man fighter" they breed them specifically to love people, and their gameness to fight other APBT's.......

after 50-60 years of breeding other dog breeds into the line...... they are not the same dogs......and should not be called Pittbulls.

(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w246/fieldsofink/6tudordick.gif)<-----real APBT(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w246/fieldsofink/pitbull.jpg)NOT a APBT(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w246/fieldsofink/pitbull_blue_brindle.jpg)<----NOT A APBT(http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w246/fieldsofink/ANIMALS/12540002_1.jpg)<------NOT an APBT

I have owned 1 real deal American Pittbull Terrier....She was the only dog I owned that never growled at my kids.....

the American Pittbull terrier was and is the greatest Dog man ever made......what we have for the most part today are not American Pittbull terriers.......

Ink, staffies and pitbulls are not the same, ask breeders, they will tell u the same thing, they get very offended if u suggest such a thing. Pits are mixtures of breeds of dogs, staffies that they use for show dogs that they register with akc and have papers are different, staffies are shorter and, ore broader shoulder, more muscular, my pitbulls are taller, not as muscular and dont have the huge wide head like staffies have. I understand what u are trying to say though, my boys actually have some mastiff mixed in with them. Many dogs that "look pit" arent pit at all if u do dna tests on them, u would be surprised to what u would find out what they were.

(I have been saying they are different silly)

When you say "staffy"  it is wrong because it refers to 3 different breeds of dogs....

1-which you have are "American Staffordshire terriers" (Which were breed from American Pittbull terriers)
2-are the "Staffordshire terriers"
3- are the "Staffordshire Bull Terriers"

all three distinct breeds.

American Pittbull Terriers are a real breed of dog.....they are not a mix of many breeds....they are their own breed of dog...

and yes Mastiff was brought into the line to produce American Staffordshire terriers(along with many other breeds)

thats why the real APBT is NOT the same breed of dog as AM-Staff's (American Staffordshire terriers)

I know dogs that are registered as both AM-Staff and APBT....but they are NOT American Pittbull terriers, they are Am-Staffs.

the pics I showed of real American Pittbull terriers are just that.  American Pittbull terriers.

and those are not the dogs that are attacking people......hate to say it but it is Am-staffs and cross breed Am-staffs.....

I love all bully breeds, and it truly is the owner that makes the dog....

The name "Pittbull" refers to one dog...The American Pittbull terrier......but it is ignorantly handed out to almost all bully breeds.....

once again I refer to the pics I posted......look at those real "Pittbulls/APBT"  they are almost extinct now a days....they were NEVER  breed to be guard dogs of any sort....they made the worst guard dogs, for one reason only....they loved people....

Am-staffs have lost that love and the game to fight....because of them bringing in other dog breeds into the line....they have also gained the other dog traits of being miss-trustfulness of strangers....and of course every gangster(for it is them I blame for what has happened to the Pittbulls) wanted a badasss dog and the best was the American Pittbull terrier....

yup the short fat ugly sukers....although I met and helped take care of one that was awesome.....lots of issues with them.

you can breed them but they need a C-section to give birth...(most are artificially inseminated) one of the reasons they are so expensive.

they are also far from what the English Bulldog used to be.....I am inclined to believe that the American Bulldog is the original Old English Bulldog.....but not positive 100%

Ink,you're correct in the reasons for the bulldog being expensive, all are born by C section as their head and shoulders are to large for the squeak to welp. This is also happening to alot of the bull breeds because man decided that looks trump function and breed to a "type".

The APBT is actually a dog developed from the original pitdogs from England, today the closest we have to that breed is the Stafordshire Bull terrier. It's not really fair to say any of the bull breeds are different from another as they all share common traits and even bloodlines. Bullterriers were developed from the early Staffies,American pitbulls come from the same foundation breeds also.

The American Bulldog is a recreation breed that was developed in the early 50's and 60's and really has little to do with the English Bulldog except that it looks more like an old school bulldog moreso than it's modern conterpart the English Bulldog.

The Olde English bulldog and the alpha blues are attempts to recreate the old bulldogs from the past but again they are bred to a "type" and not really bred for function like they did in the past.

Most would be surprised to see what went on at the old Westminister Pit,dogs of all sizes, colors and coats fought, you wouldnt even consider some of these dogs as pitbulls because they had long curly coats and weighed maybe 10lbs.  What they looked for was "gameness" the term "deadgame" was highly sought after because that was a dog that wouldnt "turn" from the fight to the point of dropping dead.

I deplore dogfighting but I respect the history, much like WW1 or WW2,gruesome things happened and I cant change that but I can respect the history. Anyone owning this kind of dog must learn the history to understand the dog!

BTW,the common name for my breed is the "nanny dog" because they were used as baby sitters and are 1 of only 2 breeds that mentions in the standard that they have a love for children.

I know lots about my dogs and others, i have done research on the background of the bully breeds, what makes me mad is people assume that anything with a boxy head and is brindle or muscular is a pitbull when in fact there are many other breeds of dogs loke the cane corsos, argentinos, presa de carnarios that look similar to a pit but are HUGE and are much larger than them. We faught to save a dog in belfast that was taken from its owners cuz he looked like a pitbull, when doing a routine check the said he fit the description and so they took him, his name was lennox. They did a dna test on him, he was lab and bulldog mix, they still sentenced him to die, even though he never hurt anyone he still died cuz of his looks. Ignorance is out there. It spreads like wild fire, the media does help. Pitbulls get bad reps from dirtbags that fight them and bad owners. The only thing my boys are guilty of is not being able to hold their licker. I fight for the bully breeds every day, i help save them from dying in my local shelter by getting rescues and fosters to take them, its a never ending job and im just a volunteer. I can not them all and it kills me when i fail them. No one else will help them where i live because they dont have the connections i have, i work with rescues and network for like detroit bully cre, lstday dog rsue, detroit animal welfare group, detroit dog rescue, and many more. I have bully crew rescues all over the U.S. that will sometimes come take them and i have transporters i work with and everything is done on donations. Those of you that have me on your facebook see the things i share and post. Shuffy, im far from confused about my boys or the breeds of the staffies. I have had many conversations with morfiend about these dogs in the past when i first got stuka, i wanted to learn as much as i could about training him correctly and learn about my dog, now he and my other pitbull tank are on their 2nd week of their canine good citizen training. Once certified, they are moving onto therapy dog training to become certified therapy dogs. I will change minds of people in my area about pitbulls and how they see them, having a good encounter with a well behaved pitbull will stick in their minds. Even if it is one person at a time, its better than none. Education is key.

VonMessa I just watched that video and all I can say is WOW!!!

As to the subject, I am sorry for the loss of the dog, any dog can be made to be a fierce fighting machine. PitBulls or Staffy's can be the most docile and gentle dogs around. The major contribution is and always will be, the owner. If an owner treats a dog mean it will be mean, if an owner treats his/her dog with love and affection it will be the biggest dork around. I have owned German Shepard's, Bull Mastiffs and right now I am the proud owner of a AKC Boxer.

Let me emphasize this Boxers can be very tempermental, mostly mental with a large temper, but seeings how LadyBug was raised to be a gentle dog, she is gentle. I am able to go directly into her mouth and grab treats out of her mouth. The lady that helps me out with my dad, when she comes over, at times she brings her 2 year old grandson. He is able to yank on her fur, tear at her ears and jump on her like she is a wrestling partner. The most I have seen her do is just look at him and walk away, only to be chased down and mauled again.

So all in all it isnt the dog its the owner. Just my .02

"At the moment he panicked and started firing - and I don't think that was right."

Not only does he panic he starts screaming at the guy, who's dog he just shot, to hit the ground. wtf for ...Cause I'm a fn pig and you do what I say and I'll kill your dog if I want on your property. Makes me sick.

"We all forgive him," Carver says. "My brother-in-law forgives him and understands he was scared but he could have done something different."

Like backed away and called animal control... or try using the front door or shut the door he was standing at?

I thought there is a department that looks out for the well being of the unharmed children..where were they.

If they were bad parents take the kids away. Don't shoot the dog protecting them.

DFACs is the deparyment that looks after kids but if the situation is bad I think they would have the officers check, if the parents are hostile. As to closing the door why would he?  You have to know the cop was thinking hes ok if the door is fully open like that and for the dogs to attck like that means that any child that went past that door could have been attacked. If the dogs were locked up and door is open fine but you can see the dogs had no problem getting out.

My dogs dont attack when someone knocks on the door, and I have a Blue heeler and a Ridgeback/something(maybe pit maybe boxer) mix. You cna keep trolling but I'm not going to be upset about this.

You sound like someone who has broken the law and been caught and now you have a serious hard on for cops. Do you really expect the cop to "back away and call animal control" as he is being mauled by a dog? Are you really that retarded?  :huh

When you're are in that exact situation, you can do your impression of superman & impress us all with you might. Until then, the law says if you feel your life is in imminent threat, you may use lethal force. It goes one step further protecting cops in reasonable performance of their duties. Some druggies & other criminals would just rather get rid of all the cops so they can do whatever they want anytime day or night. Just sayin'  :noid

In many places you have to have your dog under control even on your own property. Those dogs were not in fence or on leash.

I know in michigan there are laws that u must have complete control of your dogs or dog at all times even in your own yard, so i agree with this, as a responsible pitbull owner it is the ONLY way to have it, my boys have a outside kennel with patio block flooring as my Tank is a digger with a shade cover and their kennel has 10 foot walls. I also have a thick chain and a lock to ensure that when they are inside that they are locked in safely cuz i do not trust the flipping lock on the kennel. When they go out to go potty they are always with us on a leash, never off leash, we also practice leash training "with me" so they do not pull and with us. Every pitbull owner should be responsible, this would save many innocent lives.

Thankfully, not where I live.  I had this discussion with my (new, from Florida) next-door neighbor (whose yard is fenced-in) a few weeks back when he started yelling at my wife about my dog being loose in our yard. while she was picking tomatoes in the garden.  He was screaming at her about leash laws, even in our own yard, blah, blah.

My dog can run around in her own backyard without a leash, at least where I live...

I old him to feel free to call the police.  He did.  They came.  The neighbor was quite docile when I presented this to the cop to read to him.

§ 127-16
Confinement.
All animals owned or controlled by any person shall be leashed, caged or otherwise physically secured by such person when being walked, transported or otherwise while not in the private property of the owner or other such person in control of the animal within the township.

Its private property dumb stick... even if it was a welfare call. If the owners of the house didn't want to answer the door they didn't have to. The cop would have to go get a warrant if he wanted to check that bad.

He has no right to tell the guy anything on private property.

Whats even worse he is going to check on the welfare of some kid and then he blows the kids dog away.

Good Welfare check you look more like a women's cleaning device every day.

Few weeks ago a police officer was looking for a former tenant that skipped bail and robbed a liquor store. My father waved him out back to talk to me about him, and my dad didn't realize my German shepherd was out back with me. When the officer entered the gate my shepherd barked and ran towards the officer and sat down.

The officer didn't even make a move, he just stopped then went to pet him. I jokingly told him "he wants food, he won't bite but if you refuse him some food he probably will".

He's not trained period. He deals with tenants all day long long, some even feed him. I don't want him as a guard dog or attack dog, simply he has his own personality.

I've seen what he will do if you raise your voice however, I think its along the lines of "I will tear that bellybutton up".

The guy that lives across the road from me had been caught outside my dining room window early in the morning when i was up playing AH and just before getting the kiddies up for school one morning, that morning my daughter had woke up earlier than normal and took both Stuka and Tank (at the time 6 month old pitbulls never taught till this day to be guard dogs) outside to go potty.  I then turned on the local news to see what was going on whe i heard this horrible sound coming out of Stuka that I never want to hear out of him again. It was a protection growl bark sort of sound (hard to describe) that till this day i have not heard again thank god...all of the sudden my daughter with Tank dragging her and Stuka reluctantly following yet trying to pull her back outside says "MOM THE NEIGHBOR GUY WAS OUTSIDE OUT HOUSE!!!"  I asked if she was sure it was him and she said YES, i called the cops, that morning it just so happen there was dew on the grass so they could see exactly where he came across the road, walked around my house, stood by the window and ran back over along down the side of his garage where the foot prints disappeared behind his garage where the door is. When the cops questioned him he claimed to be sleeping but it took them almost 45 minutes to get here so he had time to hide the clothes and shoes he wore. Moral of the story, my boys are pitbulls, NEVER did i teach them to protect me or the kids, they know when people have ill intent and when to protect us and when not to. But the thing i tell everyone, i may have 3 pitbulls and a lab/pit pup in my house, but im the one they should fear the most......NOT my dogs :)
