Just an after thought but I think it would be cool to be able to select the color of the smoke bombs dropped by the F1 in flight. Especially when a couple or a few F1s are working in tandem over a GV battle, for example. A different color is used for a certain type of GV. Just thought it might be cool and aid in communications.
I know its not as exciting as A-bombs and V-1s but think about it. :aok

if you select green on your system and player b has blue selected, which color do you think player b will see?
*hint* it's similar to the "other player skins" setting...
-
dang... I didnt think of that but you're totally right. thats too bad. Maybe with a little convincing HTC will give 2 or 3 different default colors. :)
-
Maybe instead of smoke it could drop those oversized helium party balloons. They could have T for tank, H for halftrack and W for Waystin.
-
How about selecting color as a loadout in the hangar. Selectable crates each with a differant color smoke grenade. Then all you have to do get everyone to agree on what each color means.

or a dot command
.blue
.green
.plaid
.red
.purple

.plaid? :huh

I actually have to agree with this after a bit of GVing last night. There were at least 2 friendly and 2 enemy Storches flying around dropping smoke and after a few min my girlfriend who was watching asked "How do you tell what smoke is a good guy and what is a bad guy?" I looked around and there were at least 8 or 9 different lil orange plumes and I had no idea what was marking what lol so I replied "You just Guess." :P
I was actually wondering if there was a way to tie in the smoke color with our GUI settings for the clipboard map. I have friendly (Bish) as green, Nits red and rooks yellow so depending on who I was fighting at the time I would see either green and yellow or green and red smoke at a gv fight. This would also allow the individual players the make the smoke what ever color they like... Don't know if this is possible but it seems the simplest thing to do at the moment.

so what would you do if little johnny comes along in his storch and says over vox, i just marked a tiger about a 1000 yards in front of you with blue smoke... but all you see is red and green smoke?

I think what he is saying is he would see a green smoke on the tiger.

but little johnny tossed blue smoke on it...and little mikey is color blind so he uses different country colors...
same principle as the op, not everyone will see the same colors...if there were no choices and everyone was forced to specific colors, that's a different story.
-
Yes johny tossed blue... but my default freindly smoke color is green there for i see green.
-
What about 1 smoke for tank, 2 smoke for wirb and 3 smoke for M3, etc... Just need the ability to salvo the smokes quicker.
Thats just dumb.... nvm :huh
-
bc has it right, you would only see the friendly color you have friendly GUI setting set to on your clipboard. So Johny may have his set to blue (on his front end) but if my comp is set to see green in the GUI then I see green while he is seeing blue on his.
Again this seems like a no fuss way to get differing colors for friendly and enemy but then again I have no idea how the game is programmed. :)

so you're saying all you care about is that you can tell friendly smoke from "others" regardless of the color presented...then all you need is 1 color other than gray.
-
Actually it's orange now and works just fine.

what are you talking about little johnny?

Technically you'd need two (gray being the default tank fired smoke rounds).
One colour is for smoke dropped by your friendly neighbourhood spotter plane.
Second colour for the smoke dropped by the enemy spotter plane.

think about it...easiest thing to implement...all friendly = green, all enemy = default gray.

Why would the enemy be using grey smoke? if your side is using some brightly colored smoke I'm sure the enemy would want colorful smoke too. ;)
