Hmm... lemme see if I remember the template correctly...

"No!  It'll be a hangar queen because it is slow and underarmed!"

"Yes!  Because it will help fill out the early war scenarios and be fun!"

"No!"

"Yes!"

"Your mom!"

"No!  Your mom!"

For another 3 pages.

But seriously, more planes is always better.

Wiley.

I'm not sure why there are those who are so quick to call it a "hanger queen" when it isn't any slower than the other medium bombers (273mph) , carries similar weights in ordnance (4,000lbs + depending on version), and its defensive armament is just as good or better than other medium/light bombers.

Oh, plus it will fill a huge hole in the AH line up.   ;)

oh, and gosh darn it people just like it.   :D

Its perked because its an attack drone. It steals the kill away from any player that tries to attack you.  :devil

He-111 is fat, cannot defend itself, and carries a decent bomb load. But it is one of the most iconic birds of WW2.

Yet we get the B-29 first.

I still don't get how you can have a BoB scenario at all, without the HE111??  :headscratch:

I agree, not the most capable plane in the war.. But, it is kinda like paying taxes and dying..

Just sumthin ya gotta do!

+1.

Love to have some more options for milk runs. Especially sexy german options ;)

But seriously. Fills a planeset gap, would be great in scenarios / snapshot, and would go gret in MA "fun runs". Imagine 111 87s and 109e's hording a small field or v base. Itd be pretty

There is something about the HE-111 that says WWII and it is a beautiful plane. There is one at Wright Patterson Air Force museum in Ohio along with a JU-88 in Rumanian marking if I recall. I had an opportunity clime into them. I remember thinking how small they seems in real life after only seeing them in old war film. Yes I hope we get the HE-111 even if it will be an easy target.

Has anyone done much research on which variant was most produced?  Or rather which one would make the most sense in getting in to AH?

I don't have any legit sources on the He111, but from glancing at the variants I'd like to think the H-6 and/or H-10 would be the most logical because it has a 20mm in the rear ventral position and can carry 4400 lbs of ord.  Armor was increased as well as engine performance (270mph at 19k).  The H-6 was more of a torpedo bomber with the 20mm in the nose, and the H-10 was a typical level bomber with the 20mm in the rear ventral instead.  The rest of the plane used MG 15 (.30 cal) or MG 131 (13mm) MG's for defense.

I've tried, but like you I don't have any legitimate Heinkel sources.

The problem with the H-6, as you describe it, is that it would be useless for a Battle of Britain setting, which is often cited as the primary draw of the He111, i.e. "You can't do a proper BoB without the He111."

Honestly, we probably need two versions, an early version for Spanish Civil War, Poland, Norway, France & the low countries and Britain and then a later version for the rest of the war.

1,100hp H-1/H-2 for BoB and EW.

1,350hp H-11/H-16 for MW with torpedo and external racks options.

you could also have transport versions of either :aok

He111 should definately be added.  The Iconic Bomber of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain.

And I'm not mentioning it is one of the most beautiful bombers from WWII.

Try chasing around Ju88-4s in a spit1, Hurri1, or spit5.  Not fun.
