As the title says, I'm getting disconnected every couple of minutes. It's at the point where the game is no longer playable.
This started about 4-5days ago and seems to be getting progressively worse.
I'm using a wireless connection but have done so for the past four years with no problems.
edit: I did read through Skuzzy's connection sticky at the top (which is great by the way) and everything seems to check out.
I am more curious is anyone else has had similar issues...

did you buy a new router recently and is it a netgear?
-
I got the router from my ISP - have had it for a few years.
I took a closer look at my processes. While iTunes was not running, a number of iTunes processes were (three or four of them). I cancelled the processes and did not get disconnected once afterwards.
I find it odd - i have always flown while listening to itunes in the back ground and never had issues. Why would I have problems all of a sudden? I have not upgraded iTunes recently.
-
iTunes WILL interfere with the connection, and when it is not interfering with the connection it is causing latency issues along with dropped UDP packets.
It is NOT a process you want running in the background on your computer, EVER.
I cannot stress this enough. No matter how you think it is not impacting your game play, IT IS! It is the nature of the beast. It is why I listed it as one of the number one things to do when you have connection issues. KILL IT!
Wireless is going to be impacted by the phase of the Moon as well as Sun spot activity. It will never be consistent. It is also the nature of the beast.

Thanks Skuzzy. The document you typed is great. I ignored iTunes because I have never had issues before, but it started becoming obvious that it is where the problem was.

Could be a new malware introduced recently to your system that utilises iTunes for whatever dubvious intentions it has in mind.

Exactly. Its called iTunes.

When you guys going to figure out that Apple has no vested interest in helping Windows run better?
Anything Apple produces for the Windows platform is bad and has always been bad.

Slaps B4Buster upside the head! You're too smart to let stuff like that get by. Anything that isn't required should be set to either disabled or manual. Consult BlackViper's list at www.blackviper.com and pick your poison.
All the Best...
Jay
ps.. B4Buster still needs a few slaps upside the head. :devil

Equation simplified. :bolt:

I had a strange problem with magic jack screwing up AH connections. Stopped after pulling the plug on my magic jack connection.
