Was this planned? I don't remember if 83 and 84 were both targets...so we dropped em both! Lol

I believe it was, and I think they started out without the carriers by design.

Yes, each objective had two Cruiser Task Forces. I noticed reports of CVs being still up, I am going to look into the logs and see which ones may have been sunk or damaged. I know the one at 74 had a CV and was damaged by Japanese attack.

The 327Th was the first on scene we decided to go after the flat top,we lit the candle on 74 and got some good hits.

The 2 groups in 12.4 never had a CV, but yes they were both targets

Does that mean that the attacks to the CV are null and void?

I know the objectives called out for 2 Cruiser task groups.
I don't THINK the CVs were supposed to be there. Our squad attacked the Cruisers and DDs only due to how the objectives / orders were written.
We specifically advised our squad to NOT engage the CV and only go for the smaller ships as a result.

I'm looking at different options for any fleet that had a CV up.

That's fine, you did the right thing. I'll be looking into the specifics at each objective from last night.

FYI:
The AXIS Task Group C79 on the west side in Grid 8.3 was a standard AHII Task group with a CA, CV and 4 DD's. The 325th VFG defended that area.
Also on the "Twin Task Group" placement:
I thought the CM Team stopped that a while back because of the level of ACK you encounter. Also allows the defenders to consolidate their defenses as well. Also kind of the same as placing a Task Group that can be driving in close to a base for added ACK protection. just seems like a remember a thread on this from a year or so ago that the Task Group grids were to be separated and moved out from the active bases.

My squad was above unclkurt's crews bombers about 8k higher when they called out they were under attack! We were in heavy fighters and wanted to drop on our assigned targets so for a minute or two we continued on when someone said they "knocked out the fleet". This gave my squad reason to lose our ords and go help our guys below. Upon seeing the fleets in our dives we agreed that moment something has to be said about accurately reporting a broadcast. :bhead I never saw a cv in either TG north of A47 assuming the report meant they sunk a cv rather than a fleet, but that report totally blew our fleet attack. I'm not criticizing anyone but I am asking for more accurate broadcasting of attack damage reports. My squad could have contributed in a big way had we held our ords and attacked the fleets first instead of helping our bombers . . as cruel as that sounds :airplane:

i got my eggs on one of em, but i couldn't hide from those dam bloo planes afterwards

The 2 task groups that I had VERY close together in sector 12.4 was simply because of a lack of options. The sector that I had to keep them in was 60%. On top of that, most of the water that was available was unaccessable since the strait was too narrow to get the groups through into more defensible waters.

Huh, just like what happens sometimes in real life...
