I wanted to start a thread on interesting American History factoids. One that has struck me as almost supernatural is this one:
Both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, arguably two of the most influential founding fathers, both died on the same day, July 4th, 1826.

Citizens living in Northern California and Southern Oregon in the 1930s believed they were so similar in lifestyle, that they could break away from California/Oregon and form their own state. The state of Jefferson. They had their own borders, own counties, own legislature, their own post office, even their own state police. Everything was set in place for statehood. It was brought before congress eventually.
The date in which Jefferson's statehood was to be granted: December 8th, 1941.

Michigan and Ohio went to war against one another because they both wanted Toledo.
