I don't think he has much choice now. The balloon will pop eventually.

I believe he can ride down with the capsule if needs be.  But that's probably just as dangerous.

Ahhh, cc. Let's hope he decides to go for it, watching a balloon climb is akin to watching the grass grow.  :lol

Better be a pay-off at the end.

ABC has a live feed up on satellite uplink. Been watching it over cable since there are no commercal breaks. On one of their other feeds, they have the Endeavor shuttle being moved down a street in CA towards its new permanent home.

Awesome. They keep saying to talk. What could you say falling 600 mph that could be rebroadcast? Missed the longest freefall though, odd.

I thought so too... was neat how quick he recovered from the initial uncontrollable 700+ mph free fall though.

All I understood was

"My visor is fogging up like h***!"

Perhaps he pulled a little early because of that.

I'm surprised he did.  I thought his balls of steel would've gotten in the way.

It was a great show. I hope they can get official word on the mach issue quickly. Shame he didn't get Kittinger's free fall record but he blew the heck out of the alt record.

I can see how the freefall record wasn't broken. I mean he did go over 800mph according to the reports this evening after they rechecked all the data.
