Do you think its possible for him to go supersonic? Hes up there where the air is thin  but a terminal velocity of 180 or so at lower alts has me skeptical he;ll break the sound barrier,  and with a bulky(ish) suit?

hey VonMessa, psssst...he's already "off the ground", technically speaking that is.  :D

if redbull gives you wings...why is he trying to fall as fast as he can?

You mean awesome use of a private companys revenue to incite publicity and raise sales. Red Bull does this all the time, air races, rally drivers, skydivers, wingsuits, Flug Tag.

I give them a big  :aok and a  :rock

My two boys are keeping track of this in their respective classes. One is in third grade and the other is a sophomore in high school. The high school class is actually learning about the science of what it takes to engineer and do this type of jump while the third graders are just learning that it can be done. I think this is awesome and for kids who are into science and mathematics this is a great time...kinda like when many of us can say we watched the first space shuttle launch or the launch of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. There aren't many publicly witnessed major science experiments but this is one and it will be awesome if he can do it.

Except for that whole part where these guys are working closely with NASA through all of this to help develope more advanced suits for astronauts......

There's a lot of science and R&D behind this, not just some guy trying to get in the record books....

They can create a better suit in the lab, NASA was paid to allow this stunt, and I highly dout NASA has any procedures that require astronauts to jump off the space ship  to achieve any goals. What can you gain from this??  Other then massive media coverage??
