One of the pleasures of high-altitude level bombing is knowing, with a very high degree of certainty, that while you're up there, 5 miles above the earth and at least somewhat safe, there are civilian buildings getting obliterated down below.
That being said, I think it's high time that damage points get redefined into terms that have at least some parallels in reality.
One of the main prongs should be civilian death counts. It does not need to be displayed upon landing, but perhaps reported along with the rest of the bomber score.
Morbid, perhaps, but :rock :rock

how do you know how many people live in a particular building? do we take a census before the battle or wait for the opposition to write in the news how many people actually died? what about the injured? if they died later, say in a week, would that count towards your score? do you score extra for blowing up a hospital? all those dead or dying people, how many of them would be killed in the raid? or would you avoid the red cross on top of it?
-
you might want to put on your flame suit.
<disappointed sigh>
-
How would this improve the game? Kind of wondering what kind of sicko gets "pleasure" from collateral damage.
-
sounds like a mouthbreathing basement dweller wish...
-
Thats not morbid, that's asinine. It's bad enough when there is actual collateral casualties, and you want to simulate it? You sir are a putz. :noid
-
No civilians are hurt in AcesHigh, even the sheep are bullet proof :old:
-
I have to agree with everyone else on this and I to sir am a very adament bomber pilot its all i really do besides the rare sortie doing somthing else. I have no desire to know what the civilian casualties are when im bombing the town. I could see maybe displaying a countries kill death ratio or over all deaths just to see how we all stack up against each other country wise but civilians I could care less.
-
I suppose you guys are right.
It would make more sense to display the kill count in the scoring notifications when a landing is made.
To determine the number dead, I figure you just assign a constant value to each type of building, then with every destroyed building, come up with a random multiplier between .8 and .95 and round up to the nearest one.
Sounds like a nice, fun little addition to the bomber experience.

I would like to alos show haw many splinters I made off the 2nd story bedroom on the right bed's bedposts.
-
yea no.....
we dont need this.

I had to double check that your posting name included "st" and not "d". The latter seemed more appropriate considering the nature of the post.
-
Just take a jeep and drive around the cities and towns. Count the civilians you see. Notice how the total is 0. Now you can accurately estimate how many you hit when you bomb.

Bit morbid dont ya think?
-
How much you want to bet the OP is less than 14????

Pretty good bait regardless of the morbidity levels. Someone should give him an "Angler of the Week" award.
Skuzzy could put in a new emoticon for trolling POSTS with a fishing guy hooking a live one.

This deserves a new thread.
