Shows how much you know about Baseball, do some research starting with the 1900s. Baseball hasn't changed in 112 years.
Whining about money is your way of saying your team sucks because your owner won't spend money.

Baseball has always been about money, from the Players league buying out national/AL players to vice versa of owners raising and lowering ticket prices, baseball has rarely changed.

Only fans that have a reason to be pissed off are the Phillies, Red Sox, Angels and Marlins - because if you look at the list, they didn't make the playoffs.

Oakland? Orioles? Nationals? Should be laughing all the way to the bank, hopefully they invest some money in the future and keep their teams winning and not have a fire sale to sell off half its good roster.

Look up the Ken burns TV series, players always played for money. If not the players, the owners did - its an amazing TV series if you like baseball, you will appreciate this. It starts off a little slow, but it gets rolling, excellent history and fundamentals of baseball.

Enlightening the IGNORANT is not an easy task. The NFL and NBA share tv revenue and have a salary cap in place to level the playing field and to make sure the small market teams survive financially. The owners of the small market teams in MLB don't compete. Baltimore and Oakland did an excellent job this year with modest payrolls. Baltimore came really close to eliminating the Yankees. Baltimore has really good pitching and they will be very competitive next year.  Oakland had to face Verlander twice with an umpire who enlarged the strike zone to 3 inches inside and outside the plate, balls below the knees and above the letters WERE CALLED STRIKES. When Sandy Alderson worked in the commissioners office they fired umps who did not observe the established strike zone. Alderson also made sure the strike zone was the same for the AL and NL. Verlander is an excellent pitcher. He does not need the umpires help.

The luxury tax has done nothing to deter the Yankees from signing free agent all-stars or to level the playing field.
Boston had a fire sale after the all-star brake when they realized their season was over. The Dodgers grabbed those overpaid players and the result was a big FAIL against the SF Giants in the NL West.

I have a feeling the guy suggesting more research doesn't like to read.  :D

Being an Indians fan for well over 50 years, and a baseball fan to boot I've noticed great change in the game.  Some
or most of you weren't around before free agency and have little historical knowledge of the game.  In the late 1800s
and up until about 1970 the owners controled the game.  the Player was the actual property of the ball club he played for.
The only way he could play for another team was to be traded.  In the early years ALL the owners could be described as
slave owners.  Players really had to play for their life!  Most were afraid they'd have to go back to the Steel Mill or Coal mines
if they couldn't play baseball.  Salaries were generally meager...very meager.  Actually even into the 60s ball players got a
second job outside of basseball to support their families.

To make it short the owners themselves are responsible for the high salaries and free agency.  They were task master misers
that lost a court case and were FORCED to let players move to other teams when the contract was up.  The bidding started
for players and alas....this is what we have for baseball.  Greed, as in anything else usually is the culprit for the decline of the game.
Expansion?  Hell that was greed also and accounts for the poor baseball play that we've watched since the expansion.  They
emptied the minors to fill expansion team rosters and the result is some of the worst baseball I've seen.  Greed fueled the steroid era
for players who wanted big contracts when their contracts expired.  No wonder baseball is no longer Americas past time. Greed
ruins everything eventually.

The reason why Yankees have 28 rings (correct me if I'm wrong on that) is because the players and coaches are good enough to do it.  They have a lot of money because they have fans merchandise etc.

You are ignorant.
