Title: Two Ponies out for a Joyride, when suddenly...
Post by: Ripley on October 14, 2012, 01:34:46 AM
Just a decent sortie I managed to get on FRAPS. I cut out most of the footage with no action as to not bore anyone. The most exciting footage is at the very beginning of the video, and at 6:25 where not long after we display a neat (and my favorite) old school ACM tactic :)

to anyone shown in or involved in this video!

ugh, I hate how I sound like a child on comms

I was pretty sure I got all of the action from that sortie in the video, if not my apologies. I'll take a second look at the actual film viewer footage and if I find anything I'll gladly add to this post.

Nice video... what video comperssion did you use on your uploaded film?

I used a version of .mp4 as its YouTubes native format. It still came out much lower quality than I would have liked, something wonky going on with my pc when I try to publish the video that I have to figure out, but I figured it was good enough for what I was doing with it.

Good tactics, great film. Loved the thatch weave.

Thanks! Thatch weave is my favorite ACM hands down, no better way to clear a con off your 6 (as long as you have a partner of course).

Ripley very nicely done. I liked your track IR movement. How do you have yours set up: agressive deep V, or a shallow V for your yaw and pitch? I'm still trying to get the hang of setting mine up. Again, great teamwork the both of you and good comms. Sure you 2 wouldn't want to fly Hogs with the Jolly Rogers?  :D

Thank you!

As far as the TrackIR, I'm not at my home PC at this very moment but if I recall I kept things shallow for the first 30 or so degrees of movement and steepened the curve exponentially after that, I can post a screenshot later tonight of my pitch and yaw settings if i remember to check back in the forums instead of jumping right into the game :P I do also have a dead spot right on center alignment. A lo of people dont like that but I made mine very small so I have a tiny bit of space where my head movement wont mess up center. I tried flying without that dead spot and it really messed with me.

Actually, I could just link you to the youtube video that I used to set up my TrackIR. The guy who describes the process does a really great job, he makes it very easy to understand.

Dont be put off by the video stating its for DCS A10, everything he describes relates to aces high as well.
