Title: can't salvo all bombs
Post by: molybdenum on October 18, 2012, 07:24:36 AM
When I type in .salvo the bomb bay doors open (or close, depending) because I hit the "o," which operates the doors. What simple thing am I doing wrong, and how to fix?
Oh, and do I put a space between salvo and the # of bombs (".salvo 14," for example)?
Thanks in advance!

You have to open the radio text buffer and type the command into it.
It would be something like /.salvo 3
Pressing the / key will open the text buffer then you will type .salvo 3 or whatever number you'd like.

Just a side note, the .salvo command will drop the set number of your currently selected ordinance.

If you have a mix of internal and external ordinance (for e.g. 4 500lbs on the wings and 4 500lbs in the bay) or different types of ordinance (for e.g. 4 500lbs and 4 1000lbs all in the bay), and you set .salvo 8, when you drop, it will only drop the 4 bombs currently selected (via backspace key).

Thanks, guys, the radio buffer thing worked! I appreciate the input.
A followup, semi-related question: how do I get rid of the delay per bomb dropped (0.05 seconds currently)? I'm hoping to unload on an enemy HQ someday and will want every bomb to hit the same spot.
Thanks again.

You can't. 0.05 seconds is the minimum delay.

No you don't! You want to spread them out so that the "blast radius" of each bomb does some damage as well. 10 bombs on one building gives you one destroyed building. Spread them out with delay and those same 10 bombs could give you 20-30 builds.

Yes he does ;)

When attacking HQ, you don't want to kill any other buildings. You do want all of them to hit as close as possible.

This.  There is no such ability in the game to remove any delay - best you can do is the lowest possible delay.

This is true with exception to sinking heavy single ships (CVs and Cruisers), shore batteries or (as he mentioned in his example) the single HQ structure.  All are single objects with a lot (metric tons) of durability.

THis. Thats how the game simulates the fact that each bomb has to be dropped individually from the bay an will take some time to slide and drop. Still though, unless you are using a very large number of smaller bombs you will find that 0.05 is pretty damn tight.
