Post by: CAP1 on October 19, 2012, 11:39:54 PM
my gt has it. it had free 6 month subscripton. i let it expire, 'cause i was being a cheapskate. they keep sending me offers.....i think i can get lifetime for a couple hundred.......was seriously thinking about it, 'cause i like the 70's 80's and 60's channels.....plus elvis, johnny cash, and a frew other unique channels.

I never thought I'd pay for radio until I got a free trial Sirius subscription. Now I've got it in all my vehicles.  :aok

wellll, if i wanted to let the  :noid version of cap out, i could go on a whole long rant about having to pay for radio, and tv now, considering i remember when there used to be more music than commercials on commercial radio.....and i remember when cable tv was cheap, and zero commercials too.

I've had xm for years, one reason is I live in a rural area with not much fm selection.  I got sick of 5 min of the same ole music day after day, and then the same ole commercials for 10 minutes every day on the local classic rock type stations.  XM largely fixed that, although when listening to a station for hours upon hours a day, for weeks, like when I am out on a tractor doing field work, the songs start to get repititious even on xm, although there is a greater variety of stations to pick from other than just classic rock.

Don't overlook Pandora and Slacker, just to name a couple of internet stations, for some variety if you have a way of listening to internet radio.  I find here lately I prefer Slacker to Pandora.

had it for 5 years let it go the line of work i was in let me listen all day and i found they are just as repetitive as regular radio
but what pissed me off the most is that channels i loved ended up getting dropped or mixed with other stations.
example i love punk music and the had a station that was deleted and mixed with rap i frigging hate rap. and i told them that they said sorry about ur luck in a nice way so i cancelled every 3 or so months i get mail offers to join back up at unheard prices i decline and turn the ipod on in the car

my .02 cents

ya know? i listened a couple times when i was still on the 6 month freebie........i dunno what it was, but he just didn't seem as funny to me as he did on commercial radio. i think possibly because he was trying to keep within limits, which he doesn't have now?

I get it as a part of my satelite TV package. I don't buy it for my vehicles as I just don't spend enough time driving to make it worthwhile. If I were a trucker, that would be one of the first things I got though. I love being able to sit and listen to the 50's and 60's again when I want to.
