Was on the deck scouting south of our TG. Saw a lone dot and found FBDragon in a B25 at maybe 200' ASL. I crept up behind him and before I knew it, lost my left aileron to his buddy who crept up on MY six! I had one other friendly nearby, who finished the job on Dragon's bomber. I spent what seemed like 5 minutes in a fight with 5-6 Corsairs with only half my roll ability due to my missing aileron.
Needless to say I didn't down any of them, but I think I got hits on one before I finally succumbed to Chubs367 and the overwhelming odds.
:salute was a great fight and took a while for my heartrate to settle down afterwards.

just before that, i was tracking a group of b25's....i think.......probably about 100-200ft. i was shadowing them, when they made a hard turn, so i looped around to try n keep out of sight. when back on their original heading, i was making a location report, when i happened to look over my shoulder....to see the corsair barelling down on me hard. i think i dodged him, but there was 3 to 5 more.......i went swimming.

So that was you creeping up on me, I was tracking you and let you get in close before I fired but to no avail, my frame rate saved you butt lol!!! A 5 or 6 frame rate tends to get you killed almost every time. Did I even hit you, it looked like I did but couldn't be sure. Kudos to you and your buddy for getting me down!!! :salute Soon hopefully I'll be able to get a computer that will give me a better frame rate and a better chance to live!!! :devil

i had spotted the high group slightly ahead of and to the east of you first. i honestly spotted you guys by accident. i was only doing a quick scan to be sure i wasn't getting snuck up on......and saw the dots. i felt you guys were more important to track/shadow than the high guys........

Yep. This is one reason I hate that missions force you into the "default" skin. The K1-61's default has a lot of white in it, so I'm sure I was easy to spot, even at 50' over open ocean. You did hit me a few times, but only scratched the paint. I had a huge LOL moment halfway into the fight with the 6 Corsairs when I realized I still had my drop tanks on...and they were still half full. :lol
I can only image the fight might have lasted longer or had a better outcome for me if I still didn't have them attached, or if I hadn't lost my left aileron to the guy who snuck up on me just before the fight started. :salute

ImaDot not to mention that big red tail for the default skin of the Ki61. We took it and during the battle at A19 everytime I looked back I kept thinking I had an enemy icon right behind me until I realized it was my own d@mn tail. :lol

It doesnt matter if you physically take the default skin on the Ki-61 or not, you will be white/red to the enemy. Once you get within 3k or so, the skin you chose for your Tony appears. So, there is no way to hide essentially if you are a Ki-61.

Yep, Perdue...and then there are those who choose to not display skins of others, which would negate any skin you happened to have chosen anyway. It was still fun, and fights like that are why I play this game. :salute

True, no hiding in this plane per what Perdue and ImaDot said but next time no default skin for me. So that when I look back briefly in a target rich environment no more taking a second for my old brain to figure out is that red me or them while I am shifting my views all over the place.

Had to exit the fight early because the puffy ack did it's thing. Turned back to base with only 12 min of fuel in my auxiliary tank. So I had to reduce rpm and chop the throttle to hopefully make it back. Which was way unlikely. A ki dove in on me while I was afk. Not sure how he missed but I heard him screaming by. Since he went by so fast I figured I had time to run to the kitchen for some refreshment. Came back and he was once again coming in on my tail. At that time I just throttled up and dove to the deck. While I escaped the wrath of the ki I also burned very valuable fuel. Ditched on an island full of hula girls. So all was not lost.
