How much mud can a turbo prop eat?

I guess they factor in at least an extra 500 lbs due to mud....!

Check list

Fuel 25000 lbs
Passengers 6000 lbs
Luggage 5000 lbs

Ok we are good to go.... Nope we are 500 lbs too heavy... Kick Mabel and Martha off the plane , I forgot to factor in the mud...

That's how the Russians do things in peace time :)

Would not want to fight a war with them :)

That's just how Russia is in the season of "rasputitsa". The word may be translated as the "quagmire season".

During WWII the VVS and Luftwaffe regularly flew under similar conditions as that An-24/26.

The issue was never in doubt. :rofl

The skydive strip I used to fly off would often have standing water and mud on it. Although it was solid underneath. I have video which shows a take off and it was similar to that. More like a speedboat than a plane. You could actually hear the splashes over the noise of the engine. It looked worse than it was though as we factored for it and stayed lightly loaded. But we dare not stray of the actual runway. I once did while taxying and the nosewheel sank into the ground with the prop cutting daisies!

Wild! It took him a long time to get that nose wheel off.

Runways are too expensive, Mudways will have to do.

I just wonder if all that mud and water affected the flight characteristics or the center of gravity after it had dried in flight.

I dont know actually. Taking off from a damp grass field is tough. I cannot imagine what a complete mudhole would be like.
