There are a few things lacking in the game set that i would like to see added. A NEW AXIS BOMBER for one...something like the DO-217,JU-188.or HE-177......even the SM-82 Kangaroo. all saw service in quantity, all served during the war...some with more than one airforce, and all could be an improvement over the current 1941 era JU-88 we have now.
-
The best unperked Axis bomber in the game is the Ki-67.
Ju188A-1 would be my choice for a new Axis bomber.
Well, not really. My first choice would be the H8K2. Second choice is the Ju188A-1.
-
The best option I can think of is the HE-111
The next best would be the HE-177

Everyone voted for the Me-410 thinking it was a blockbuster late war fighter only to find out after the first sortie they would never fly it again, now think of 50x worse now you got a He-111.
/After the first sortie, everyone crams into a B-17 and climbs to 25k as normal

This also happened for the Betty too correct? most people wanted it for historical reasons and got it, then it turned into a hangar queen, this will probably happen if the HE-111 was added.
Us as players always love new toys, but go back to the planes we are most comfortable with.
Personally i'd love to see the He-111, but that is my own opinion.

ScottyK,
No, the G4M1 was added by HTC primarily for scenario purposes. Nobody has ever suggested the G4M1 would be anything other than a hangar queen in the LWA.
You can find uses for it and it does have a nice attribute, very fast climb rate to about 12,000ft, but it always will be a hangar queen.
Some people seem to mistake the He111 for something other than a hangar queen in the LWA. Most people who advocate for it are quite well aware of how it will do in the LWA and just want it for scenarios, which is a perfectly reasonable thing. Some others seem to think it would be far better than it will be.
Additional Axis bombers that would be good in the MA:
Do217E
H8K2 'Emily'
He177A-5
Ju188A-1
P.108
P1Y1 Ginga 'Frances'
Axis bombers that would be hangar queens yet would be good additions:
He111
SM.79-II

I find this happens a lot when folks want something seemingly "uber". It's amazing what really happens when the "new" wears off. At this point, I think it's sensible to want an addition to the game that fills the scenario gaps.

The He-111 is already inbound.
Oh, and I'd like Karnak to define "best". ;)
In terms of causing damage to enemy targets, the Ju-88 is better than the Ki-67 in terms of "best Axis bomber" because of ordnance capability. In terms of climb and speed, then the nod goes to the Ki-67. Otherwise...
-
Ki-67 is a perk farmer. You get a rather awesome amount for killing a 5 ENY plane, and the 20mm is perfect for that job.

Ki-67 probably gets the nod in terms of causing damage to the enemy as well due to its much greater chance of making it to the target. I think that only with heavy air superiority would the Ju88A-4 be better at causing damage.
Ju188A-1 would, of course, be better than either.

Very true, if I need perks I head to midwar with a Ki-67 or Ju-88 and hunt for CV's. Then again once you get 1200 perks you never need buff perks again unless you tend to crash b-29s for no reason :)

The HE-177 has many atributes that make it great. It would probably see as much, if not more use than allied heavy bombers in the LWA
It has the payload of a Lancaster (up to 13,000lbs+)
It has the defensive guns of a B-17 (x2 20mm, x5 13mm, x1 7.92mm)
It can carry the Fritz X, which has been asked about
It is faster than a B-17
But it burns like a B-24

It would also be a complete farce to have it so grossly misrepresented in AH. To make it out as though it were better than the B-17, Lancaster and B-24 is sheer absurdity. It was an absolute failure of a weapons program, yet in AH it would seem be the best bomber of the war.
Ju188A-1 or Do217E should be added for the Germans, not the He177A-5.

I plowed a pair of 262's into the mountain a while back, I was on an auto climb and AFK'ed to take a wizz, I wasn't gone 2-3 minutes when I came back I was climbing over a hill and wasn't going to make it, I tried to fish tail and fly back down the mountain but I ended up stalling :(
I swear there was NO mountain in sight and on the map I was at least 2 sectors from it, I think HTC just randomly spawned the mountain in front of me to crash into :furious :furious

I'm all for being optimistic but I'd strongly suggest you go back and research the 177 a bit more :aok

He has to have his fun once in a while. :lol Albeit, pricey... :bhead

I'm not understanding why there are some people so down on the He111.
It can carry 4400 lbs of ord; it climbs well enough to hang with medium and heavy bombers; has a max speed of 275mph which is not out of league with the other medium or heavy bombers; it has a 20mm ventral MG for defense (if HTC adds H6/H10 version), and has plenty of range.
It would be like taking up a B26 with 8/500 lb bombs (8/250kg), climbing like a Ju88 then flying level at B25 speeds, having the defensive guns similar to the Ki67 (a single 20mm and .30 cals), and having the max range similar to the B26 we started with. What is the issue??? Why are some people intent on only adding in the "best" for the LW arena? News flash: having and using nothing but the "best" is as boring and gamey as it comes. I feel sorry for those who think that is what AH is all about.
-
Ki-67 has a 20mm and 12.7mms, not .30 cals.

In the book "Military Aircraft Visual Encyclopedia" By Jim Winchester says the HE-177:
Had a ceiling of 7,000m (22,000+ feet)
Top Speed 295 MpH
Bomb Load of 6,000kg (13,000+lbs)
Defencive guns x3 7.92mm, x4 13mm, x2 20mm

Perhaps in one of the hybrids, but not the H-6/H-10 variants. The H-6/H-10 would be a more logical choice, at least imo, because of the numbers produced and the abilities of the aircraft.
From what I remember, the version that carried the 6000 lbs of ord needed RATO's to get off the ground (I'm thinking someone somewhere got their "lbs" mixed up with their "kg", there is no way the He111 could lift off with 13,000 lbs of ord let alone have enough room to carry it all).
Also, keep in mind when their is a source saying X aircraft had a speed of Y, don't forget to check the weight in which it was measured. There is a difference in an aircraft that is loaded down with %100 fuel and full ords vs one that is %50 fuel and no ords. Some data does not differentiate and that tidbit is not disclosed. Food for thought.
I'm sure someone with a legit source will chime in on what the maximum speed of the He111 was at X weight and Y altitude.

Ah. It is the G4M that has the .30's (7.7mm Jap) and the 20mm. My bad.

HE-177, not the HE-111

I am happy any time AH adds a plane even if I only fly it a few times a month. I blow up more 410's and new Ju-87s than I fly. I love both new additions though. AH did a great job on them! :aok
That being said I think I will have consistently more stick time in the Ki-43 when it is added while not so much the HE-111 (but agree we need to have it anyway).
I fly every plane in this game. No such thing as a hangar queen in that regard. I phase out of and into different planes each month too as I learn more about them.

Very MA of you to say.The HE 111 and the NEED of it have nothing to do with MA,Fso's pull in over 250 players along with other spacial events that pull in even more, and the HE 111 is long over do.And I'm willing to put money on it that it IS already one of our next planes to be released.
-
The next 2 planes that should be added are the HE-111 and JU-52
HE-177 would be my third choice
