KV-1 and KV-2
Both were produced in decent numbers and would be fun additions to Aces High.
-
KV-1 would be interesting, heavy armor but 22mph top speed and a hand cranked turret, think of a slower tiger for early war - would certainly dominate M4s and Panzer 3's Panzer 4 F's.
KV-2 however, extremely LARGE target - extremely slow gun as well, be interesting to see how HTC would model its 152mm gun, anything under 1000 yards the hit would destroy either a Panzer 3/4 without even penetrating.
-
I have played both in wot and and realized one thing is for sure: they're so slow that they will be used for "home defense" only. in other words other than at the 135 spawn, they will sit on concrete all day long. the m18 should have no problem out flanking them or just run circles around it for fun before it kills them.

Difference is m-18 is 1 perk, while KV-1 would be very high eny... Late war vs Early war, you cannot compare a tank destroyer to a tank. Apples to oranges.

someones been playing world of tanks, kv-1s FTW.

so you mean the kv1 should be added for the 3 guys that play ew? for in lw where most players are it will just sit on concrete like the tiger 2. I am not comparing apples to oranges just trying to figure out what its role is going to be in the lwa where most players are. and that role will be to sit on concrete.

I wonder if we would gett the 107mm on the KV-2 along with the 85mm on the KV-1 or would we just have stock guns on them like the little f-34 76mm that came out on the kv-1 when it was first in production

Most likely if HTC is going to add the KV-1, he would add a few variants like the EW version with 76mm gun as well as KV-85 with an 85mm gun, same gun as a T-34(85). In game however, EW variant would either be a perk builder or for scenarios etc, KV-85 however could hold up against Late war tanks just as the T34-85 does, only thing is instead of 25mph for 85 model, while 22mph for KV-1.
You trade Armor and mobility in the KV-85 vs the T-34(85). Not a bad trade really, the KV-85 served from second half of 1943 until the IS-2 tank started coming into production, so its more of a Midwar stop gap tank for the Russians, same as the Panzer-H was.
One key difference is 150 or so KV-85s were produced - taken into account it did serve well for midwar, by the Russians still relied on early war tanks to get the job done. And swarms of T34s.

This isn't WoT. Unless the 107mm saw combat, you won't see it.

You people have been playing WoT too long.
Wanting 152mm derpzilla guns, 107mm guns that were never used and 85mm guns that probably couldn't fit into the original turret.
If anything we should get a KV-1 with the 76mm F-34 short barrel gun. Good early/mid-war tank but useless against anything that has decent frontal armor.
Now, for those who were too lazy to look up the specs here they are.
Weight 45 tonnes
Length 6.75 m (22 ft 2 in)
Width 3.32 m (10 ft 11 in)
Height 2.71 m (8 ft 11 in)
Crew 5
Armour 90 mm maximum
Main
armament 76.2 mm model F-34 gun
Secondary
armament 3× or 4× DT machine guns
Engine 12-cylinder diesel model V-2
600 hp (450 kW)
Power/weight 13 hp/tonne
Suspension Torsion bar
Operational
range 335 km
Speed 35 km/h (22 mph) (Lol its almost better than the Sherman VC Firefly.)
Now if you ask me i'd love to have this but why would HTC put it in the game? Nobody uses these early-war tanks and everyone (almost) plays the LWA.
-
Um... didn't the KV-1 use the same 76mm cannon the T34/1941 had? If so, it would be a sitting duck. Most people do not realize that the Soviet 76mm on the T34/76 is on the bottom of the barrel in terms of AP ability (non-HVAP under 1200 yards). It is even worse than the US M4 Sherman 75mm. So here we have a slow moving large target with good armor, but a slow firing poorly functioning main gun. Not a good combo.
As far as the 152mm KV-2, I bet the reload time is 20 seconds a shot at best (I will look it up to be sure). Couple the slower than slow reload with horrid optics.... who in the right mind would even dare to take that thing on to the battlefields of AH???

You spent 1 minute reading wikipedia and think you know everything? Bad news - the 85mm gun was fitted its called the KV-85, it was a stop gap tank before other tanks could come into action to combat the Tiger and Panther, problem is the Russians knew Germany could only field so many of them, problem was they were not going to produce a tank entirely to combat it, Actually they were, but the IS-1 was pretty much canceled at this point. T-34(85) and Kv-1 were just variants designed in the every changing adaptions of tanks, just as the Panzer 4 went from a Breakthrough tank to a main battle tank. Early war the Panzer 3 and 4 could not even scratch a dent in the KV-1 or T-34. However as tactics grew, so did tank designs. The KV-2 was not a main battle tank, it was a breakthrough tank which the Russians improved on later in the war, things like the SU-122, ISU-122, SU-152, and ISU-152, to add that the KV-1 was actually used as a hybrid for the IS-1, however an interesting thing happened - the Russians producted enough Su-85's and Su-100's to combat Tigers/Panthers, that the JS-1 was found to not be needed, also its 85mm gun was not enough to be a breakthrough tank, refitted as the JS-2 it carried a 122mm gun.
The JS-2 could of been fitted with the 100mm BS-3 100 mm gun, which would of made the JS-2 a pure tank killer of Panthers/Tigers, however it wasn't simply needed as the Germans couldn't produce enough of either that the russians needed a tank killer.
Why don't anyone use early war tanks? actually some do, a Panzer F(L-43) is a pretty awesome perk farmer, if more tanks were added a large ENY based GV system could be made, however we have limited vehicles in Aces high this is why you don't see many EW tanks running around.
However the Midwar Panzer H is the most used tank every tour period.

KV-1, KV-85, IS-2, Su-100, all would be very good additions in the MA.
Also, since the very large majority of the ground war was between the Soviets and the Germans, would be nice if theese countries tank set would be expanded (the Soviets are only represented by 2 variations of one GV...).

Su-100
would love to see this

In Regards to the M4/75mm performance vs the 76mm on the T34 using data supplied from AH:
Gun Penetration (mm) 0k 1k 2k
M4/75 91 80 70
T34/76 90 75 63
T34/76/HVAP 124 82 55
-
Lol, thats funny. The T-34's HVAP round is barely better than the US AP round at 1000m.

So in other words my memory was right on. :aok
That is just the AP data. That does not even take in to consideration the reload rate or the optics. Oh, and the HE damage the US 75mm provides another 30 lbs of damage as well.
Yeah, I still think the KV-1 would be a sitting duck even more so than the M4A3/75mm since it is about 6-7mph slower. The KV-1 obviously has better armor, but once the US76mm and better is brought in to play it matters not.
Edit:
Regarding the performance of HVAP ammo: the round relies far more on velocity than it does weight hence the inability to maintain enough kinetic energy over time. Most people keep firing away with their HVAP ammo at targets well beyond 1200 yards because they do not know better. Up close there is not doubt, use it.
