I'm not much od a Star Wars fan but holy crap! Can you imagine how badly Disney will butcher a Star Wars movie?!?!  :O :O

After the last 3, I don't see how they can do any worse.

One possibility that has potential: Joss Whedon Star Wars.

The fact that Episodes 7 through 9 will actually be made and the likelihood that Lucas won't be at the helm of it is a pretty awesome thought.

P.s.  I'm not worried about them "ruining" the Star Wars franchise, because Episodes 1 through 3 tried their best to do just that, and Star Wars survived just fine, albeit without the shine it had before Episode 1.  Disney can't ruin it.

This had been in the works for over 20 years.
 
When Lucasfilm developed Indy Jones Chronicles, where did they shop?  ABC network.
 
Who did ABC own?  Walt Disney.

What did Disney buy?  ABC network

Where has Star Wars Celebration been held?  Disney

Who did Jim Henson turn the control of Muppets to?  Disney

Who helped with Yoda?  Jim Henson


Many other kid friendly properties have been turned over to Disney since Disney represents the best in kid friendly entertainment.  I wasn't shocked to hear the news.  Just didn't know when the event would happen.


Guess this means the Epcot ball will be re-painted black with Imperial markings. :pray

Great news, for me its like with the Bond Movies, i cant wait to the next new one.
I hope we see more from the Star Wars Universe in the future, exiting news!

I think this might be a good thing, I mean the series can't be anymore screwed up than it already is with Episodes 1-3.

So what will episode 7 be? Space Pirates of Coruscant with Captain Jack Solo?

Episode 7 "Independence"

A long time ago in another galaxy...

After 30 years of Galactic rebellion from the last shards that remained from the remnants of the First Galactic Empire, the 2nd Galactic Republic have triumphed at last!  The final Imperial stronghold in the Wildlands surrendered to the Republic forces unde the command of Admiral Wedge Antilles.

On Naboo, deep within the Lyrisa mountain range, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker has been sent on an expedition to uncover the last of his father's long buried secrets.  Only his faithful droids as his companions, he must vanquish all remaining vestiges of the Sith.

With the loss of the vast Imperial control over the galaxy the weakened state of the Republic, most of the galaxy has fallen under the control of the smugglers and thieves. Young Jedi knights have been dispatched to stop the corruption throughout the galaxy.  They are hopelessly outnumbered in their quest.

Story Synopsis

Much of the tension centers around 3 young Jedi knghts as they stop the smugglers.  Battles rage among planetary spaceports, hidden bases and open space.  Throughout the story, tiny pieces of clues are found by Luke Skywalker as to the Late Emperor's Final Plan.

Coruscant politics are followed through President Leia Organa-Solo's attempts to solidate Republic power throughout the galaxy.  Her inner circle are sent on missions to facilitate that objective.

Luke finally discovers the Final Plan but at a price.  His journey culminates with a showdown with the last remaining Sith Lord, Darth Malice.  They fight a vicious lightsaber duel ending with Malice being able to turn Luke more to the dark side before Luke cuts Malice down.

The Skywalker curse continues.

You forgot the part about Han Solo not being able to deal with Leia's job and developing a nasty drug habit, leading to him having to steal the millenium falcon from the impound lot.  Don't worry, he'll be back in episode 8 where he saves Luke right before Luke commits suicide after a young jedi says he wants to grow up to be just like Luke and considers him to be a father figure.  They go off, get drunk, go to a strip club, and Luke meets an attractive yet strangely subdued barmaid, who in episode 9 turns out to be a "wild" jedi, using her power to remain hidden in plain sight as a barmaid while she works behind the scenes to improve conditions in her home town, a traditional role of the jedi.  Luke makes her preggy just by taking a sip from her beer (remember this is disney) and we fast-forward to Leia and Han's kids playing with Luke and barmaid chick's kids before school at the new jedi academy.  JarJar returns as one of the jedi academy's first tenured professors, and the students still laugh at/with him when he slams his tongue in the door or sits on a squeaky robot thingy at the beginning of class.  Obi-wan's ghost watches jarjar's foolishness from the corner, smiles and shakes his head, then gazes fondly at his also-dead friend Anakin who is setting up another prank since he's not afraid to use both the light and dark sides of the force now that he's dead.
