Just heard about the latest Les Miserable movie, coming out around Christmas I guess.
I'm a big fan of the book, I believe it is one of the most powerful and moving stories ever written, and the musical captures that beautifully.
The supposedly big deal about this movie musical is that all of the singing is done with live takes, instead of lip-syncing to a studio recorded version. From the trailers it looks like it could be very good. (and I didn't even know Hugh Jackman could sing, though I'm sure he's no Alfie Boe)

Apparently Colm Wilkinson (the original Valjean in the stage production) will be playing the Bishop.

Whats its about?
Read the book and you'll know, It's only 1700 pages. :aok
Seriously it's regarded by many as one of (if not the) greatest novel ever written. I have a list of about 10 novels that I believe EVERYONE should read. Les Miserables is probably #2 or 3 on that list.
I guess it looks like I'm the only one here looking forward to this film. It remains to be seen how strong the singing will be, Anne Hathaway sounds good in the trailer, but I've never heard Jackman sing, and Russel Crowe I think of as more of a rocker. I'm sure most of the singing won't be as technically perfect as the London, or Broadway stage shows, but I think with the full on movie backdrop that won't really matter so much.

I don't watch films with singing in it, I feel like kicking the TV over, its childish :old:
I started watching that film about Eva Peron about the facists in Argentina and Atonio Badaris started singing :cry
I will get a copy of the book on itunes, I am now reading thd "Lost world", probly some political theme to it but thank god i am retarded and oblivious to it :old:
"The Fire Next Time" has no singing in it by the way :)

I'm not a fan of fiction, but I would be interested in seeing your list.

Is that Micheal Chrichtons book? Try reading 'State of Fear' or 'Prey' for good reads. SOF is more political, where as Prey is just scary and is mostly about computer programing and human stupity. They are up there on my favourite books list.
