Is it:
A) The international sign of distress.
or
B) A sign to report to the moderator.
Surely our community veterans will know the answer (since they taught you in basic training).

I'm aware that many of you Men know that any flag being flown upside down is a sign of "distress".
Flying the American Flag upside down is the symbol for "My Country is in distress".
In hindsight, I will not change my beliefs, but I do regret putting that image in my signature. It is an image that I was raised to hate.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone.
EDIT: I'm aware that the women of our community are aware of these things as well, and I SALUTE them also.

So I am guessing you tried to make some attempt to put a upside down flag in your sig, because the US isn't int he best shape, and is in 'distress' as a joke?

Quote:§8. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

You know what Melvin, roughly half of the folks may share your feelings but you always run the risk of alienating the other half.
I am always extricating myself from stupid internet arguments that are a total wasted of time.
It's hard to resist, but I am simply going to now keep my feelings on controversial matters to myself or share them only with those I know to be like minded.
You are not going to change the mind of the opposition and you won't learn anything from them either.

It wasn't a joke.
