PT Boats were equipped with stern mounted smoke generators that could deploy smoke to help cover the PT Boat from attack from ships and/or aircraft and to screen other ships. I would like to see this feature being added to our PT Boats in game as it could be useful in:
- To help defend itself by using the smoke screen as cover from attacking planes and other PT Boats
- Provide a smoke screen for the fleet when it's under attack
- Provide a smoke screen for LVTs as they make their runs to the beaches
Would be nice to have the destroyers in the fleets also be able to discharge a smoke screen but I think that might be a little touger to implement as the destroyers aren't player controlled like a PT Boat is.

The pt boats are allot of fun, but they are just too easy to kill. If we had night in the
Late war arena once in a while or if there was some camouflage in the landscape to hide in
That would help.

Was thinking of a feature for mufflers too but then I don't think mufflers will be of much use for the PT Boat in game.

Possibly if any pt boat (or plane) are in the smoke, their icons should be removed if enemy? (For however long they are in the smoke, that is how long their icon is removed).
I'm not sure, for me it's quite easy spotting the 'twinkles' on the ground be it gv or pt.

Just have the other CV ships catch on fire after the first hard position is destroyed! Instant smoke screen! :D
Seriously, though, seeing how much smoke a carrier puts out after the candle is lit, if the other vessels could also catch fire it would make for an awfully pretty mess down there for a bombardier to sort out.

+1 for the smoke screen on PT boats - I have asked for this before. With enough warning, maybe we could get PT boats out providing a smoke screen for the CV from the shore batteries and lancstukas. Screening LVTs would only work if the PTs start spawning where the LVTs spawn when the CV group gets close to shore.
I also like the idea of smoke hiding icons (or at least cutting down on the range where they can be seen from aircraft).

Nebelwerfers on skdfz 251 could probably also do smoke-screens, likewise mortars, but mortars are not represented currently in AH.
How much use they where used, i do not know.

That is easy to fix - random direction 5 knot wind in the arena every day (and there are quite a few of us that would like more realistic wind & weather).

Then why does smoke from GV's always disburse in one direction?

Smoke actually provides good cover. A couple of weeks ago I took part in a base capture, upped a LVT4 along with about 5-6 other guys in LVT4s and we fired our smoke to obscure the landing beach and route to the town to provide cover for us from attacking planes. We had the beach blanketed in pure white, planes were missing on strafing and rocket passes. One guy that came in to strafe me strafed a tree about a hundred yards in front of me instead. But you need a lot of smoke rounds to be fired for good cover, not just a couple here and there.

this you can already do but it takes a long time to get anywhere on a river I think trinity has a couple of rivers leading inland

one of my old laptops with integrated video card i used to play on wouldn't even show smoke.
