Title: USA vs Russia
Post by: Pigslilspaz on November 12, 2012, 09:32:31 PM
November 14th, game time will be 10AM EST, 7AM PST

Will be on ESPN2, game is going to be held at Kuban Stadium in Russia. (Was originally going to be at Stanford Stadium, and I was going to get tickets to it :( )

Jurgen Klinsmann has announced the 20 man roster he is bringing, and it seems to be using the friendly to give a few newer faces some time before the final round of World Cup qualifying starting next year.

US ROSTER BY POSITION

GOALKEEPERS (3): Tim Howard (Everton/England), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (6): Carlos Bocanegra (Racing Santander/Spain), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/England), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg/Germany), Maurice Edu (Stoke City/England), Clarence Goodson (Brondby/Denmark), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim/Germany)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Michael Bradley (Roma/Italy), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg/Norway), Joshua Gatt (Molde/Norway), Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim/Germany), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04/Germany), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht/Belgium), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim/Germany)

FORWARDS (4): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna/Austria), Herculez Gomez (Santos Laguna/Mexico)

Notable absences are Donovan (LA is still in the Playoffs, playing against Seattle for the 2nd leg of Western Conference Finals on the 18th), Dempsey, and Cherundolo

Lately, Jozy Altidore has been tearing it up this season with an amazing 11 goals in 12 games in all competitions, and 8 goals in 9 league games playing with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.

We actually beat them in Rugby on Friday also (40-26). Time to show them we have their number in yet another sport

They had that mental state and were fueled by the same "we better at everything" ideology during cold war.

Well, considering that Klinsmann was experimenting with newer/younger people on the roster, and Russia has been very good lately (Currently ranked 9th in the world), I am happy with a 2-2 draw. But still, our defense is horrible and it was like watching a car crash in slow motion. Geoff Cameron has been looking solid, but we seriously need to find him a good CB to partner with him. Even though I personally can't stand him, I honestly hope Omar Gonzalez would be a good for for that role, considering he's a big presence in the box at 6'5" 200lb and only 24 years old as well.

Just some thoughts
