Please tone this down a little, its making it extrememly un entertaining to fight anywhere within half a sector of a fleet, the puffy is rediculous and more often than not reguardless of alt speed and direction change its going to get ya!
-
I have never been shot down by fleet ack when I am not in their range.
Just sayin.
Throwin it out there.
Not casting any aspersions on anyone's moral terpitude.

Yep that puffy ack is tough.
We are having meat loaf tonight :old:
-
Umm, it's turpitude.
When throwing heavy words around, remember that they carry more weight (pun intended) when spelled correctly. ;)
-
Funny I thought it had been toned down, although I am still getting hit its minor things like cowl guns, I haven't had an insta pwn run in a while now. :headscratch:
-
I don't mind puffy.
I do not like that an enemy CV can be parked so close to a base, where as no one can get over 3 k off the runway and the enemy can vulch you easy enough.
I say keep puffy like it is ,and limit how close you can park a CV off the enemy cost...or enemy toast.
-
And some folks are against adding fleets that would have a reason to get in as close as our current TG's, for bombardment and LVT deployment... :bolt:

I agree, but I'd like to add something.
I'm tired of a certain Bish group running out to the CV in mass suicide runs dropping tons and tons of ordinance and dieing just as quick as the bombs hitting the deck/water/ships. I'd like to see the puffy intensify the closer you get to the CV. Id also like to see it set up so that a CV group can NOT get close enough to a base to create an ack umbrella over it.
If the CV umbrella is 3 miles, and ship shouldn't be able to get closer than 5 miles. The outer ring of ack hits with a 1 in 10 chance to hit, close in a mile more and your at a 5 in 10 chance, inside the last mile a 7 in 10 chance.
Numbers are just for the example, but it gives you the idea. Like anything else in the game Id rather see people FIGHT for it instead of just throw a bunch of numbers at it.

:lol I hear you, and I find this laughable as one guy can take a set of B26's at 8K and sink the CV by himself. Done this many times, and the auto-puff ack is too easy to survive. The only ways I get taken out is by a good gunner in a 5-inch, or an effective air defense intercepting me before my drop.
-
Puffy ack hitting you at 20,000 feet and beyond the visual range of the cv group is BS.
I have no problem with enemy cv being near enough a field that puffy helps defend it.

Best way to avoid being shot down by fleet auto puffy ack is to fly a bomber. Rarely hits them and even more rare to be shot down by it while in them despite you being in an aircraft thats 3 times as large and moving 1/3 less then the speed of a fighter and it having 3 times as many of you to shoot at.

:huh :huh :huh :huh Are you guy whining about me.......... :ahand :ahand :ahand Puff Pie will be served in the forward galley 24/7

Ships and task groups can get very close to shore in real life. If not how could they ever get to port?
Pearl Harbor, Straits of Gibralter, Suez Canal, Straits of Hormuz, Panama Canal, Great Lakes, Hudson River, Chesapeak Bay... Need I go on?

Being stationed aboard the Dwight D. Eisenhower for several years I do know how close they can come. I also know from a tactical point of view the captain would be thrown overboard with a jet engine strapped to his back if he thought to bring our CV that close to shore while running an attack. Also, seeing as we are playing a game some concessions are made and I don't see why this one couldn't be added to it.
You finally get a CV in a reasonable range to mount an attack and it's sunk by 20 suicide dweebs that don't fire a single shot at a defender unless they are on a strait line from the end of the runway and the CV. This kind of dweebery just promotes more hordes. Instead of 10 guys upping from the CV to take a base you now need 30. 10 to attack, 20 to cap the CV. Thats all we need, more hordes.

Yea and one thing. THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE!!,its aces high the game and many things in this GAME are not like real life.Being stationed aboard the Dwight D. There's no need to get angry. I was simply pointing out that it's not so far fetched.
Sorry if I hurt your tender feelings by quoting you.

I'd be pretty angry if I got pilot wounded or dead stick the moment I popped 3k.

lol Dont worry Bald you could not make me mad in this world,i dont get angery over games, just trying to point out in large print what a lot of players dont seem to get 90% of the time when playing or talking about AH.Its silly to say ..(but in real life) when talking about this game. :salute

The problem is, the ack umbrella is magical appearing ack... with no regard for line of sight or any other considerations.
It may just be luck or perception, but the puffy ack is far less of a pain in my bellybutton that it had been 4 or 5 months ago.
I shadowed a task force last night just barely popping in and out of range of the puffy, and it orbited it in a CHog for 20-30 minutes before the main fuel hit it have given me forced me to return to base (I ended up running the entire thing on drops.)
The 3 dozen or so times I have gone in on CVs recently, the 5" guns are the real danger... if there is a player in them that knows what they are doing you can forget about trying to race in past the fighter cover in anything larger than a fighter.

Pretty funny to read how the enemy thinks about suicide runs like this. To make a long story short, I don't think this is typical bish behavior. I also think something needs to be done with the puffy ack, but it's not easy to find out how to make it more realistic. I'm sure htc is working on it.

may the creator hear us :pray
-
Good point but its generaly the allies on your side that gives the cv up and gets it killed.

I don't think any said it was, I only pointed out what I saw Saturday night. All sides do it. While I would hate to say we need something to make "a life" a bit more important it is kinda what it comes down to. While some are trying to play a tactical or strategic game you have others making 5-6 runs in B26's to get a bomb or two on the CV with 20-30 other guys.
Kinda takes the fun out of a strategic game if all those plans and tactics can be thwarted by a bunch of dweebs suiciding into the CV.

I switched over to Bish for 2 days to see what it was like. No surprises. Country chat = :rofl.
Though I admit, all 3 sides do the same dweebery stuff.
