You are very welcome. :)
I find it sad that it was retired though. imo it is the best pure bred fighter of all time.

If the navy still flew these gals... well I would suffer through being a squid to fly her.

of that generation i'd take the F-15, it was the best. this video says so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLQKkbm9UJY&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLQKkbm9UJY&feature=related)

I would say they both are equal, considering what they both were designed for.
It still pisses me off know what they did to the F-14 and the way they retired it. It was one hell of a plane!
Thanks for the link, hadn't seen this one before.

I think (think) the F14 was intended an interceptor for fleet defense and designed around the Phoenix Missile system while the F15 is more of a fighter superiority aircraft. I guess thats why the F15 is the better pure fighter.

true but both are truly amazing aircraft. I remember back in 2003 at NAS jax they had an airshow there, i was 12. and one of the aircraft they had let people climb onto and take photos and just sit in the cockpit was an F-14, i don't remember the model of F-14, but i do remember the feeling of sitting inside of it, and just thinking. Wow! just Wow. sadly they retired it before i came of age to try my luck at getting to fly her.
:salute To a great Fighter, And to Grumman.
