getting a tank scenario up. Nothing huge like a normal special event since I think the tank following may be a bit less.
Pretty much who would be the best person to talk to about this?
I was thinking pretty much just Tank Klub style fights where we meet in the DA or in an SEA and put together small scenarios....one we had was a smaller group set up in defensive positions around a town and a large group pushed in to kill them. Fights of that nature, doesn't need to be completely historical just balanced.

I think you were still deployed at the time Junk but the Winter Sky Death Ground Scenario earlier this year involved ground and air units and was quite fun. Everybody flew and most drove GV's late in the frame. I am sure there will be others. Battle Royale from start to finish. :aok

The biggest problem was it was put into Winter Sky to give the dedicated GV guys a chance to show their stuff, and basically no one showed up from the dedicated GV guys.

Cranky this morning?
No not really.
It is always those people who voted with their feet, they are always at fault. The setups are always perfect.
Also those darn complainers they help ruin the perfect setups.

So bitter would be the better description then?

I'm talking just tanks...nothing else but whos the better tanker and knows tactics

There have been several scenarios with tanks in them (Stalin's Fourth, Operation Husky, Tunisia, Red Storm, and Winter Sky). Of those, the ones folks seemed to like the best for ground action were Stalin's Fourth and Red Storm.
In Tunisia, Red Storm, and Winter Sky, the core of the ground combat was set aside for dedicated tankers, not pilots pressed into tank service, and that resulted in 15-30 players willing to dedicate to ground combat. Stalin's Fourth pressed most people into GV duty, and we got more in GV's as a result. Some didn't like that, but a lot of people had a great time. I'd love to play in Stalin's again. The terrain wasn't available for a while, but it probably will be at some point.
I think that tank-only might not gather enough participation to make it a scenario. I could run a "This Day in WWII" style event for a tank-only battle. Those are not nearly as full-featured as scenarios but still fun with just about any level of participation. If folks are interested in that approach, here's a topic for discussion:

Each frame of WSDG was divided into two phases; an air phase that kicked off the frame followed by an objective based ground frame that started at something like T+70 minutes. It really opened up the strategy game and forced decisions such as do we pull guys from the air and put them in tanks or do we go thin on GV's and leave our players in their respective airplanes. 321BAR did an excellent job on the Axis side coordinating the GV side of the frame. Both the air and ground game were a blast! I'd love to see something with that same basic framework repeated!

Junky,
If your interested, I will build an Armor Event for February's Sunday European Campaign. I'd call it something like, "Steel of Normandy". Tank battles of D-Day.
This can be done.

"Dedicated GV'ers" show up for a Scenario....now that's funny.
The normal spawn-camp-shoot GV'ers won't show because it doesn't fit their spawn-camp-shoot tactics.
And tactics for the GV'ers....lol. There is something funny to me about that as well.
You would have a better chance of snapping a picture of Bigfoot ridding a unicorn, wearing a four leaf clover, while sitting in the bomb bay of a B-29 in the Main Arena, than you would of having 20 "dedicated gv'ers" sign up and show up for an all GV setup.
IMO,

I hope your wrong

Wow...
What a blast!
That is a shame. Because the setup is going to be fun. A little over a year ago, I created an all GV frame in the December SEC ANZIO campaign. GVer's had great time in that frame. But I tell you the truth.
HighTone is right in this capacity;
IF THE LEADERSHIP DOES NOT PREPARE FOR THIS EVENT PRIOR TO THE FIELDS OPENING, IT WILL BE CRAP.
This is not my humble opinion. I have seen this over several years now, in scenarios and several other events, i.e. SNAPSHOTs, SEC etc.
These frames will be objective based and require a Patton or Rommel style of leadership to be successful. To date, I haven't seen this from the ground
community. The air guys are all over this kind of challenge in spades, to the extremes even.
In my experience, if the leadership is too great on one side or the other in a GV setup. The weaker side of the leader which ever side that is gets trounced
in a maze of confusion and ambiguity. Then players begin to complain about the setup and its not fair and all other sorts of statements that ultimately are
controlled by good leadership and proper planning.
The February SEC event is posted on the AH calendar. It's all ground... NO AIR AT ALL (period)...
I challenge the Generals that will be at the helm to immerse themselves in this event and make it the best GV event ever.
I can guarantee you this. If this event is a flop. It will not be because of the setup.
Best of luck to February's SEC side COs.
The February SEC write up can be found here (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,344334.msg4546060.html#msg4546060).
The side COs can now make their presence known and begin to recruit players at anytime now. Again, GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!

Of course players at fault NEVER the setup.
